It's one of the hardest things I have ever had to do and so emotionally draining. I have never asked for anything in my life or ever reached out and asked for help from anyone, even family, because I am too proud, but we have run out of options and I just don't know what else to do. I feel so embarrassed that everyone is now aware of our situation. Everyone keeps telling us to stay positive, but its just so hard. It's getting to the point now where we have both lost hope. It frightens the hell out of us. We worked so hard to get this house and we will do whatever it takes to make sure we don't lose it Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 5531Jan 14, 2014 10:37 am [quote="naiandpete"]Thanks Jamie. What kind of work are you guys looking for? Have you looked into releasing some of your superannuation, I'm not 100% sure if you would be able to but I think in times or hardship you can make a hardship claim against your superannuation. Might be enough to get you through the next few months while the job market improves. I know in my industry that nothing is really available until mid Feb. http://www.humanservices.gov.au/custome ... rannuation Good Luck Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 5532Jan 14, 2014 10:48 am Thanks cjamum. We are actually waiting to hear back from our super funds as to whether or not we can release any of our super. Fingers crossed we'll hear something soon and get something out of it. With regard to work, Pete is looking for Channel Manager / Sales Manager roles and I am looking for Office Manager / EA / Event Management / Account Manager - sales roles. Thanks for the advice Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 5533Jan 14, 2014 12:21 pm bradk romishem Hey Bradk WE have been on the construction list since 11th Dec and know the feeling well. I think the doors in the Monaco are Lin 1 cavity sliding doors which can be stained to the shade you prefer. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 5535Jan 14, 2014 9:59 pm Conformation today from our CLO that it will be a 1K penalty fee plus the cost of moving the bathroom out under the eaves and a free standing bath. I will wait to see what the final price is before deciding to go ahead or not. Thanks for the advice Renai, Looks like you are in the same industry as me. I'm a legal EA. Are you willing to travel to the City? Have you registered with any agents. I never do my own job hunting, I recruit the agents to do it for me. Give Charterhouse or People to People a call. If you do legal work then also try Legal Personnel. These companies can also give you long term temp positions while you are looking. I was made redundant just over a year ago and my agent had me in a long term temp position within 24 hours. That way I was still in the City earning money and I was available to attend interviews for permanent positions at lunchtime or after work. I've been in a full time permanent position for over 12 months now and I still get calls every other month asking me if I'm interested in other positions. Sometimes they don't advertise the positions if they can get people on their books to apply for them. Oh bugger we made a change after we signed off on our colours and the penalty was only $200, but once contracts were signed we were told the penalty would be $1000, that's bizarre Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 5539Jan 15, 2014 8:52 pm cjamum naiandpete Thanks cjamum. I have applied for quite a few jobs through those guys, but perhaps its worth giving them a call instead. I haven't even been able to get a temp role, which is really bizarre. Nai Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 5540Jan 16, 2014 10:49 am Hi Guys, When you had to pay the remainder of your deposit to MJH just before your build started, how long do they give you to pay once they invoice you? We paid our $3K ages ago and expecting we'll need to pay the rest soon before we get started on the build so just want an idea so I know whether I'll need to pay cash immediately or whether I will have time to draw it down from the construction loan, cheers Hi AKG, We had a base tender of $592 for 31 squares from MC Donald Jones. It looks relatively cheaper than other builders.
