Can't wait to commence! For those of you who have gone with shutters, do Mjh use basswood or fauxwood? Or a combo? Hopefully someone knows! Thank you in some of their display homes, the shutters are actually aluminium. they may give you a choice between basswood and aluminium Thanks mandv - I have had a look at our colour selections and it only says fauxwood. Hmmm.... I might have to give our colour consultant a call! I was just thinking if they are basswood, then having that in the bathroom is not the best decision. Is Aluminium better than bassbood? Cheers! in the bathrooms they should actually use PVC or some other material which will not be affected by water/condensation etc. We got our shutters done after we moved in. Bass wood in all the rooms except these 2 windows where we wanted longer slats we had to get aluminium as the longer slats with basswood we were told would bow over time. pvc shutters in the bathrooms. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 4600Jul 29, 2013 11:08 am Scratching our heads as to what to do with regard to blinds. We really want plantation shutters, but were told because we face west, we will get direct sun in the front two bedroom windows, which will mean they will warp and discolour and wont last 3 years and in the bathroom we have the moisture issue so PVC was suggested. The problem with the PVC shutters is that they only come in light colours, basically white and cream. We want a dark colour like a chocolate brown. The only thing we can think of where we will have consistency throughout the house is aluminium slimline venetians, but for some reason we can't seem to find anywhere there does a dark chocolate one. I have only come across two blind places that have a brown colour, but its more of a bronze. HELP!!! Hi AKG, We had a base tender of $592 for 31 squares from MC Donald Jones.
