Browse Forums Building A New House Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 22Jan 03, 2011 3:55 pm Thanks for the response guys, - seems the home one forum for me has turned into a venting tool at the moment haha! i have no doubt all these issues will be fixed however still frustrating, just shows if you get a good supervisor and good tradies how smoothly it can go! unfortunately i dont think i got either!. Lenny 13 - thats great to hear you are building in Lake Coogee too, will have to keep an eye our for another redink power box!. We have had our block for 5 years now and it will be a sigh of relief once its all finished and can move in. Will post more pics when the tiling is done!! Plasterer has been back and things are starting to look alot better. however..... the plumber decided to rip our mosaics off!!! was not impressed with that considering i imported them from italy and cost an arm & leg. however the supervisor has been quite good about it all and will arrange a credit for the damage and to get it fixed. Tam Builder: Gen1 Homes Design: Custom Strata Location: WA Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 24Feb 06, 2011 1:11 am tamallen cornices are VERY badly laid, cupboard handles in kitchen and bathroom crooked, gutter paint is very rough due to spraying when winding (dirt has now stuck to the gutter giving a rough finish), same deal with the internal doors (house is so full of dirt/dust), we had essa stone tops put on in the bath room and they have drilled a hole for the tap through the stone when there is clearly a tap coming out the wall!, tiling due to commence (my own tilers) and plumbing hasn't even been done therefore they cannot brick up, crack mortar in alfresco, bad plastering throughout, scratched glass doors on theatre room, brickies never bothered to do nib walls in bathroom (this should have been done prior to cabinets going in, no drain in ensuite toilet, and to top it all off we were broken into after lock up - bath, laundry trough & internal doors stolen (they recon its an inside job) - GREAT TRADES REDINK!. I've had nothing but frustration with this builder and whilst i understand you get frustration with every builder this is beyond a joke, i paid thousands to upgrade to high gloss white vinyl wrapped doors in the kitchen and they cant even put handles on straight?! and where is the supervisor in all this? our back window was also left wide open prior to xmas break and we have spent the last two days cleaning the house out ready for the tilers to start on the 10th. They claim they have 'service above and beyond' but i'm still yet to see it! hi - I hope all get fixed by now. How come did u not get drain in ensuite toilet. Do you mind telling me how much redink charged you for nib wall in bathroom. love your hometheatre door. which doors are they? Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 25Feb 06, 2011 6:33 pm Hey, apparently you dont need one in the ensuite toilet coz there is one in the bathroom. Redink didnt build my nib walls my tilers did - i nominated my own tilers and supplied my own tiles. Thanks they are actually wrong they are meant to be pre-primed doors because they are meant to be painted white to match the others so they are still to be replaced. i had to have them due to having no windows in the theatre - council requires you to have a certrain percentage of light & ventilation. Tam Builder: Gen1 Homes Design: Custom Strata Location: WA Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 27Feb 09, 2011 6:55 pm Tiling looks gorgeous! Just a quick question, I'm intrigued... you mentioned you don't have windows in your theatre? We tried getting the smallest windows possible in our's, but they wouldn't allow. Did redink allow you to go without windows but substitute with the doors?? Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 29Feb 10, 2011 6:32 pm We found it strange they were so strict with the theatre windows, when looking at other new houses on the net, some don't even have windows!! We went for the typical windows too, will just tint them, thick curtains etc. Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 30Feb 14, 2011 6:25 pm Hi CC101, i used to have plan on my Flickr but as my photo have increased it was deleted, ill post another for you. As for the theatre we had to have a HUGE hole through our wall to have it passed... We have a vent in there and the glass doors were a preference. Tam Builder: Gen1 Homes Design: Custom Strata Location: WA Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 31Feb 17, 2011 5:06 pm ANOTHER VENT! - mirrors installed and are wrong!... shower screens are meant to be semi frameless - WRONG! not one thing has been done correctly the first time in this house, i'm getting very frustrated considering its been 1 year since out pre-start meeting and we are still a month away from handover. PULL YOUR HEAD IN REDINK!. grrrrr... Not to mention we spoke to some tradies last week who told us they had been to the house 4 times now and they arent left enough materials to complete the job or given any direction, he said 7 houses had started after us and had already been handover months ago. Tam Builder: Gen1 Homes Design: Custom Strata Location: WA Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 32Feb 17, 2011 10:43 pm hi tamallen - did u get stone benchtops through builder? builder has quoted me $6647 and i got outside quote for approx $4500.00. saving of over 2k. what do u think - should i go with builder or outside. do u think there will be risk of damage etc by tradies of builder who will be working after the stone is installed in house. Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 33Feb 18, 2011 5:32 pm Hi CC101, Yes we got stone benchtops through the builder in the kitchen & Bathrooms (essa stone) - $6977 to the kitchen & $2000 for the bathroom & ensuite. I wanted to supply my own benchtops too but they wouldnt let me, but the only issue you will come across is if they do your splashback before the benchtop isnt installed - it all depends how good your supervisor is. There is a risk of them being damaged and at the moment i have the problem with our floors because our tilers continued tiling throughout the whole house as we used the same tiles everywhere and to get the cuts perfect and it all fitting well they wanted to do everything - the builder sent me a variation the other week saying they wont be liable for damage but its a bit late considering its done! i wont be signing it because if they are letting you do it they should be liable to some extent if they are damaged. With that said - stone benchtops are pretty hard to damage - they have been putting tools etc all over mine and not one scratch. Different story if you were going for that look alike stone gloss laminex stuff - that scratches up badly. Tam Builder: Gen1 Homes Design: Custom Strata Location: WA Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 34Feb 21, 2011 10:02 pm No wonder i havent been able to contact our supervisor for the last 4 days! his decided to go on holiday!.. house now at a stand still - still waiting on all the issues to be fixed. Handover seems a lifetime away. Tam Builder: Gen1 Homes Design: Custom Strata Location: WA Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 35Feb 23, 2011 9:07 pm Fly screens on, shower taps fixed, shower screen on in bathroom - waiting on ensuite shower screen to be replaced & bathroom mirror to be replaced, cornices still to be fixed, theatre doors to be replaced, handle to go on front door, front door to be stained, tiling to be fixed in ensuite, rangehood to be installed & shelving & painting to be completed.... and we are DONE! hoping for handover within the next 4 weeks! fingers crossed! Tam Builder: Gen1 Homes Design: Custom Strata Location: WA Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 36Feb 23, 2011 11:41 pm good to know that everything is going smoothly. enclose some photos for the progress. I think i will go for stone privately - either during build or after handover. I still have not got full costing from the prestart yet. Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 37Mar 06, 2011 7:50 pm www.flickr.com/photos/buildingnumber6/ - latest pics up! First inspection Thursday! Can I ask if you got 28 c or higher ceiling in kitchen and if your pantry in kitchen goes upto ceiling from inside. Your tiles looks georgeous. Your wall oven stack also looks very stylish. which wall oven is that? Re: RedInk Homes - Custom 5000 in WA 40Mar 07, 2011 7:38 pm Thanks guys, we have the 31c in the main areas, hall & kitchen and normal 28c in the bedrooms & study and coffered ceiling in theatre. The Pantry is 31c inside too. Thanks we are really happy with the bathrooms its all starting to come together. The wall oven is a westinghouse - we upgraded to the westinghouse package with the wall oven, 900mm stove & rangehood i think the house came standard with a 'chef'.
