Details for Pre start - SPH

Hi Guys and Girls,

Just wondering if anyone can give us any information on what is involved with the pre start with SPH. This is the first time build and just want to know what sort of info we will get and if anyone can give us some ideas about the package (choices etc) and costs involved. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most details on pre start will be the same for all builders. You can do a search and you be able to get all details on prestart.

Basically you will be making all the selections, and signing you contract. Be prepared with all your selections, like tiles, roof, colors, garage, paving, doors, electrical requirements, cornice, all your appliances, any upgrades. Make sure you get all credit for things, that you remove.

But how do we find out so we have enough time do the research? do we do it all on the day? or do we get a selection a few weeks before to think about?

Anyone building with SPH got any hints or help?

well you can organise the prestart after you have finalised all selections. Basically most tiles and other selection shops are open on saturdays and till 8:00 pm weekdays. You may also wish to do some research by looking at display house and see what you like and what you dont like.

i am building my second house. building this one with sph.
you will end up getting your selection file.
they have a checklist that you need to have completed before you can book your prestart in. this includes selection of tiles and laminate colours.
also in your selection file you have the choice of the standard builders range of products, depending on your budget and what upgades you choose will reflect in the prestart costing.
you also do your electrical plan. where you can move power points and light switches and add conduits etc.
the staff are helpful. and they go through everything very clearly.
we did our prestart at the start of May.
like mark299 mentioned.... go and look at display homes and this can give you many ideas fpor your own place. if there is a bathroom or kitchen you love you can request the addenda for that particular house and it will let you know what colours they have choosen.
also go to european ceramics or crosby tiles and look at the range of tiles and laminate colours they have. the staff at these places can help you with picking colours and matching them together.
austral bricks have display centres where you have a look at the face bricks and pavers.

Thanks for the help. What I failed to mention though was that we don't actually live in Perth but we are building there. So we need all the online help we can get. eg Brick selections, tiles etc. All basic stuff, that I am sure we will get before our pre start, but a heads up never hurt.

just go through the forums on here to get ideas for colours. there is heaps of photos on here. good luck with all your selections
