Re: NICE DESIGN….? 3Oct 12, 2007 5:54 pm A classic example of 'design' = abstract art.
An ugly mish mash of things put together in odd ways just for the sake of uniqueness. Re: NICE DESIGN….? 4Oct 12, 2007 6:32 pm Well, I like it too Michelle!
I think its a good contrast of materials, and I really like the rock cladding. It adds a nature element which I think 'grounds' the house. I stumbled across this site which you might find interesting http://www.norstone.com.au/stone.asp Eimaj Re: NICE DESIGN….? 5Oct 12, 2007 6:34 pm C’mon people……where’s your sense of diversity.
I agree this home is…. To me ….. a modern take on Retro/Art Deco. Probably why I like it, Art Deco is one of my favourite styles. however, when I look at houses for something I "like" - my number one concern is livability. my parents place is a great case in point - architecturally stunning - however, it's so minimalist, that the house doesn't look lived in - it looks too sterile and not what I imagine a "home" to be. Re: NICE DESIGN….? 7Oct 12, 2007 7:01 pm Excellent Eimaj !!
I don’t know why I like the stone look at the moment. I think the reason you stated ……”it adds a nature element to the design.” For me, I think a home looks more interesting if it has a few elements included. Timber, stone, metal……so forth. More to captivate the eye! Minimalist, not my favourite style. I agree, a home needs to look lived in AND loved. The place is out of balance. The various roof angles are at the wrong angles and the driveway running in front of the front door does not fit well. The rocks - well - too 70's forme - I think it will date very quickly and the use of iron and other materials is not in balance. Steve Re: NICE DESIGN….? 10Oct 12, 2007 8:35 pm I see absolutely nothing 'art deco' there (I live in an art deco house). Looks far more like a late 60s - early 70s architect job. Very few redeeming features. Re: NICE DESIGN….? 11Oct 12, 2007 8:56 pm Crickey!
I dont think I will post any pictures of my new house LOL I love modern homes that are designed with interesting elements and materials...its makes a house unique. I suppose it is all a matter of taste, how boring would it be if every home in a street had the same facade, colours and style. Nice house Michelle Mrs B Re: NICE DESIGN….? 12Oct 12, 2007 9:08 pm Basically the question WAS, has anyone used the stone feature on their home?
Thanks Mrs B. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: NICE DESIGN….? 14Oct 12, 2007 11:00 pm Michelle,
We planned to have something similar... but instead of the houe, we are thinking of using it for the retaining walls at the back and the fence at the front. Got a few photos on my blog: http://building-our-first-house.blogspo ... ing%20wall Thank you so much for the effort. We will use it to talk with builder. We also had idea of building duplex instead and seeking suggest ions. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=106744 11 13817 Once you know the basics, the rest is easy.
