We still haven't paid our slab invoice (Thanks Bank!) coz they "apparently" didn't receive our paperwork... They have finished the frame today though. The bank has to organise the slab to be assessed once that it done and approved then they will pay the bank. Our bank can transfer the funds wirelessly though instead of writing up a check, so see if that can be done to save yourself some money. Also, our broker is pretty good that they have been checking on the bank to make sure everything is ok. See if your broker can help you out if you get stuck. I was wondering why they haven't started on yours and pac-panny's yet. Maybe they need to leave more time for the concrete to set because it has been raining so much. But double check with your CSC! They will be starting our gutters and roof tiles this week! Anything else let me know! Re: FlagstaffIV Build - Trusses Started! 82Jun 27, 2010 9:49 pm Was finally able to take some pictures after work today! Boy t'was it muddy!

Hey Flaggy Thanks for the info i know what you mean by not making out a cheque and saving some money on that side of things, i was just curious weather they kept on building or if they wait for the payment to clear first so fingers crossed we start frame this week . Great pics you have i also took a heap when we went past on the weekend so its all good ! Cheers Re: FlagstaffIV Build - Trusses & Frame Finished! 84Jun 28, 2010 7:50 am Ok, so the frame overhangs in one section and doesn't reach in another? Did you check the measurements? I'd call the SS and just ask- you could go along the lines of "You know that I'm not experienced in this building caper, so could you please explain to me if this will impact on the structural integrity of our frame?" It looks a bit *** to me. I asked hubby and he agreed, he thinks it's not done right (not that he's a builder lol) I can ask my friend who is a qualified builder if you like? You can get a private building inspector to check everything is right (I think other ppl on here have done this and cost is prob about $100 for your peace of mind) I would suggest asking your builder first and see what he/they say. Looking at my photos and others on here, i haven't seen any that noticable. I'm sure there is a margin for accuracy but this looks a bit much. It seems either the slab or frame is a bit skew-wiff. Good luck, i hope you can sort it out. :S plan,block,contract:8-9/2009 Land settle & FHOG$:15/2/2010 Site start:19/5 Slab:4/6 Frames&Trusses:11/6 Roof,windows:24/6 Bricks:1-5/7 Gyprock:14-16/7 Kitchen!,garage door:5/8 Driveway,verandah,tank:2/9 Paint:17-23/9 Tiles!!:15-20/10 Kitchen&bathroom appliances,blinds:22/10 Carpet:8/11My blog: http://buildingbug.blogspot.com Re: FlagstaffIV Build - Trusses & Frame Finished! 86Jun 28, 2010 2:16 pm Love the photo's Flagstaff & like the others have suggested invest in a independent building inspector - just to be on the safe side. Have you managed to contact the SS??? Re: FlagstaffIV Build - Trusses & Frame Finished! 87Jun 28, 2010 5:56 pm Thanks guys, Yes called him today as and will be meeting up with him on Thursday... It basically over hangs at the back end of the house on the LHS and then is on the RHS it is in a little bit... Hope that makes sense. I haven't really spoken to my SS much so I didn't want to bring up the fact that I had been in my house without him there. He might not be happy with me if I did! We'll see how we go this Thursday. I'll be calling a building inspector tomorrow and asking if he can come along... Re: FlagstaffIV Build - Trusses & Frame Finished! 88Jun 28, 2010 6:22 pm Here is a allowance of 20mm overhang , with the otherside thats well within the slab is not a issue i have spoken to my mate who does this for a living and will be inspecting our place on friday i noticed our walls have been put up so hope this helps Re: FlagstaffIV Build - Trusses & Frame Finished! 89Jun 28, 2010 6:26 pm Hmm, not sure about your frame issues. You'll have to let us know what your SS says after you meet up! I didn't notice anything like that looking at our frame, then again I was so wrapped up in imagining my finished product I probably should have inspected a bit better. The frame needs to be certified before they can move on so I guess I am putting my faith into those who do those inspections for a living. However, had I noticed something that weighed on my mind I would bring it up with SS. We are exactly at the same stage!! My fascia and guttering is at the house and waiting for a window delivery soon. The bc put their reputation on the line in the end so they should want to do the right thing by you. Inspector sounds like the way to go just to be safe. Hope all goes well with your meeting! Re: FlagstaffIV Build - Trusses & Frame Finished! 91Jun 28, 2010 8:36 pm bobes Here is a allowance of 20mm overhang , with the otherside thats well within the slab is not a issue i have spoken to my mate who does this for a living and will be inspecting our place on friday i noticed our walls have been put up so hope this helps It is definitely more than 20mm from what I have seen on all the other walls expect in the first pic. We'll see how we go. Thanks for the info bobes! and your welcome! Thanks MM and Jodes, I'll let you know how I go!! Re: FlagstaffIV Build - Trusses & Frame Finished! 92Jul 01, 2010 5:06 pm Update! So we had our site meeting today with our SS at 12pm. Called him at 12.05pm as he had not shown up yet. SS: "Thought I booked you in for Friday..."... F4: "Um, no. Didn't hear you say anything about Friday..." SS: SILENCE... "I'll be there in 20-30 minutes tops.." Great! HTB and I sat in the car for half an hour... fuming at eachother... This was not fun. Anyway... SS finally arrived. Solved everything I was worried about! The reason why some areas had some extra concrete down the sides was for reinforcement, as they was previously some overhang with the frame and they are still yet to put some extra concrete bits on other side where our sliding door is. *Phew*... I am quite relieved. Turns out SS worked for 10 years as a framer and 6 as a site supervisor and said the quality of our frame was alot better than the others... I hope so! He also apologised as he actually mixed up the times... Silly! He was also able to arrange for the Electrician to do some extra powerpoints at $50 each!!! I just have to make sure I am there when the Electrician is doing the fitout to pay him cash. Now I have to ring back the inspector and let him know his services are not needed for the time being... I feel bad! *Forgot to add that they have done the pumbing fitout and we're wrapped aswell! Forgot to take pictures but I'll probably have some up on the weekend! Re: FlagstaffIV Build - SS Late!!!! 93Jul 01, 2010 7:00 pm Well it's good he sorted out all your worries Hmm I have'nt asked for a site inspection yet... maybe I should arrange one, we're almost done bricking! (erm.. not that... I.. have'nt seen the site... a bit.. every..day) ! Re: FlagstaffIV Build - SS Late!!!! 94Jul 01, 2010 7:25 pm Phew, glad you are happy with his response! That must be a weight off your shoulders. Great deal on the extra power points!! Looking forward to seeing more pics. Hahaha! Well I was abit worried after I had only been contacted by my SS once and then didn't hear from him in 3 weeks until I contacted him!! I know what you mean about being there everyday! Definitely contact your SS if you have any issues with anything! Thanks MM! Re: FlagstaffIV Build - SS Late!!!! 96Jul 01, 2010 8:00 pm Good stuff Flagstaff I believe we have the same SS and he has not contacted us as yet and i have mentioned this with out CSC but no contact has been made but seems like we might be in good hands ... i saw ur place all ready for bricks soon !!! looking good ! Re: FlagstaffIV Build - SS Late!!!! 97Jul 01, 2010 8:22 pm Thanks bobes! Hmmm... Maybe call him and arrange an inspection??? Coz 'technicallly' we're not allowed on site without them. Thank you! Yeah, roof tiles on tomorrow or next week and then bricks ahhhhhh! HTB was freaking out today about the bricks... he's worried that it going to be too red... made me all stressed out! Will just have to wait and see how it looks. Has you CSC advised you of when your roof is due?? Our CSC is abit lazy IMO. Never calls, only emails...
