Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 25, 2010 2:46 pm Hi everyone We are just settling on our land in Noosaville at the end of May and then are looking to build on it. We are thinking of signing contracts with Plantation Homes to build a Doulton in July. I was reading a number of posts which stated that a number of you had issues with rain. When is a good time to build on the Sunshine Coast? We would love to be in for Christmas. Anyone who has built with Plantation on the Sunshine coast who can give an idea of realistic timelines and best times to build, would be appreciated. Thanks Re: Building on the Sunshine Coast 2May 26, 2010 11:00 am You really should have started already, but then again, I don't know how long it takes to build with them. We started 1st of Feb, probably 1/2 way through. Winter is supposed to be dry. We are having unseasonable wet weather. Out neighbours block wall just toppled over and fell into our latest set of footings, this was due to the rain at the end of last week. :/ Re: Building on the Sunshine Coast 3May 26, 2010 7:14 pm We are building the Doulton in North Brisbane. We paid our initial deposit October 2009, PH is digging the trenches for the slab next Monday...we are hoping to be in by Christmas so I would say it would be nearly impossible for you to be in for Christmas if you haven't started any pre-build paperwork yet. Have a look at my time line and blog if you are interested in our experience with PH so far. We paid our initial deposit in August and finally got to site in February. The admin stage was long - 6 months which did include the christmas closure. The average build time for a 2 storey with PH at the moment is 5-6 months, our build is looking like it will be around the 5 month mark. I was naive and thought/hoped the whole process (admin stage + building) would be 6 months - I have learnt patience!!! We have a doultan going in near us, let me know if you want to have a drive by, will PM the details. Good luck Re: Building on the Sunshine Coast 5Jun 30, 2010 9:38 am Thanks for the feedback. Ok so I need to be patient and have more realistic expectations. Shelby75, if you could pm the details of where your neighbour is building a Doulton, we will check it out next time we fly up from Sydney.
