Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 24, 2010 9:29 pm Hi We are thinking about building the Glenlea29 with Clarendon. Can anyone please let me know of any positive/negative experiences about building with Clarendon? We are a bit concerned that they seem to be the only builder so far that charges to provide you with a tender (in this case $1500). I know it goes towards the cost of your purchase price but its a sunk cost if you dont end up building with them. Thanks Re: Building with Clarendon 2May 26, 2010 10:09 pm hi there good luck with your build. i just paid 700 for mine through a different company. only cause i thought it was fare for the contour reports provided for your land, to estimating site cost (remember these reports are yours you paid for them). 1500 is way too much in my opinion bargain with them and tell them you want it for free or going somewhere else. they will then counter with something more feesable, but make sure you tell them you like the house but am not prepared to spend that when other companies with very similar houses dont charge that much if at all.. research them i did and i didnt like what i saw but everyone is different. i just wasnt happy with tere final product. had friends build with them before and everything is cheap. thinnest gyproc (push the wall and it would flex) can only be caused by not putting enough screws in it. if a company budgets everything down to the last screw then in my opinion you would only be forever falking out money during a build because your not happy with something. remember you have to live with their standard practices or pay the price for better standards. my arguement is why pay more when it should be in the first place. *disclaimer* this is not a reflection on Clarindons permanent product finish just an opinion of my own. Every company changes practices and proceedures when growth is inevitable, this company might have done. i am only suggesting to research before laying out any kind of money. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=37134 THE THREAD https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35962 THE BLOG! http://pedrosinspiredbeauty.blogspot.com/ BRICKS BRICKS ARE FINISHED...
