Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 24, 2010 5:11 pm We are happy with everything except for the shadow cladding at the front of the house. To quote the site supervisor it looks sh@thouse, and he believes we have a strong case to get it fixed/replaced. However he says nothing he can do we need to write a letter to the builder. Situation is, our sales person told us the shadow cladding was included in the facade we had chosen. When we got to colours they asked us what colour we wanted our lining boards (shadow cladding) & we told them. When we got to sign off, there was no shadow cladding. Argument ensued, checked with sales person who admitted her error and it was included and we were not charged for it. Well it's a mess. There are joins & screws in it. Their reasoning for this is that shadow cladding comes pre cut in one size and they had to join several pieces together - it looks like it too. They have done the shadow cladding horizontal, where on the display (and what we thought we were getting) its done vertically. Plus I believe they've used top quality material on the display and some ******* pre cut material on ours. The builders argument is 'it's drawn on the plans horizontal so your fault it looks rubbish'. Our site supervisor says write a letter of complaint. Handover is meant to be this Thursday, do we not make the final payment? Arrghh, any tips on letter writing would be greatly appreciated. Re: Had PCI. Not Happy. Handover this week, what are our rig 3May 24, 2010 10:58 pm I'm not sure that there is much that I can add to this... I'd be checking all the original documents, any written materials from "the argument that ensued" that you have supporting that it should be done as per the display. Get the salesperson on board - she told you that it would be as per the display. Other than this, realistically they are right - if it is horizontal on your plans and you have signed off on those plans, they are within their right to claim that they have done as you have asked... It sucks. BIG time. If you can find supporting documentation that you were promised it as per the display then that would support your argument a whole lot more than anything else you could come up with. Sending you lots of luck and good wishes for a happy outcome. Re: Had PCI. Not Happy. From what you have explained, they may have had a case to not do it. but have decided to help the customer out and done the right thing.
