What exactly are you planning on getting installed? Re: Electrical extras 4May 22, 2010 7:45 pm ......less than $1500 on extra internal & external powerpoints, 1 extra TV point plus two external lights Edited to read less than $1500 instead of $500-was actually under $1200-most expensive was the two waterproof coach lights Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Re: Electrical extras 5May 22, 2010 8:41 pm $2.9k in estate FTTH with cabinet upgrades and 1 data, 1 phone point. $3.2k in lights, powerpoints, 2 x 15A pp, external junction boxes and lights, more data points, doorbell etc etc. Our Build - Places Fairhaven 23+ - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28045 Our Landscaping - Belial's Backyard - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=45375 Re: Electrical extras 6May 25, 2010 4:01 pm Belial $2.9k in estate FTTH with cabinet upgrades and 1 data, 1 phone point. $3.2k in lights, powerpoints, 2 x 15A pp, external junction boxes and lights, more data points, doorbell etc etc. Few 'amateur' questions on the electrical component when constructing a house: 1. Will builders (EBH, Rawson, Wisdom, M, Clarendon etc) know how to install Smart Wiring into the house? 2. How do we know if the house is smart wired? What difference does it make compared to it being normal wired? What difference does it make compared to it being normal wired? "Smart Wiring" is a marketing term and needs to be treated as such. Usually its used to describe the components and wiring for Fibre to the home (FTTH) installation in new estates, along with a wiring 'package' ranging from a base installation with 1 phone and 1 data point, through to distributed media wiring including video and audio streaming to multiple rooms, multiple phone and data points. The exact requirements for this vary between estates and the provider (Telstra, Opticomm or estate specific provider). Generally most of the major builders will have a record of the estate requirements as a minimum, what you upgrade from there is your choice, though some builders will generally only implement 'packaged' setups with little variation. All up we spent $4412 - so not too far off your $4600!!! (we did put pre-speaker wiring for the alfresco in at tender and this was $150 - I figured I could pre speaker wire my entire house for that much if we did it ourselves so we took it out ) Happy to post our Elec plans if you're interested! Regards Sleven Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: Electrical extras 9May 25, 2010 8:09 pm This is what was included in our contract price (our builder just allocates off your floor plan what they think you need): Single power points - 6 Double power points - 24 W/proof single power point for tank - 1 W/proof double power point for alfresco - 1 TV points - 3 Phone points - 2 Two way switches - 2 Light points - 28 Then we did our electrical plan and we added the following which came to a total of just under $2.5k: - 1 extra two way switch - 2 sensor fittings - 10 extra light points - 8 fan/lights assembled and installed - 4 exhaust fans That price includes installation of all light fittings (downlights/pendants etc). There is no extra cost to install down lights cos they are considered a "light point". So I think that is pretty good. PLUS I made a deal with him that whatever he spent on electrical upgrades I could match it on kitchen upgrades Win-win My inner geek, got overruled by the budget committee and she who is the minister of finance, unfortunately. But i did get my one thing which was swapping the *cough* craptacular cabinet the builder supplies as standard for the ftth nto and wiring hub to a wall mount rack cabinet. Lots of space for expandability without the need to ripout, re-plaster and re-terminate the whole lot to get what i wanted. The downside meant the budget didn't stretch to all the structured cabling we would have liked, but enough to allow expansion later.
