Hello,
Thought it might be time to start my own thread.
Have been reading with interest about everyones builds and I guess I'm seeking an outlet to avoid boring my friends and family to death with topics they understandably are not interested in!
We subdivided the land that our current house is on and the result is a 337m2 (tiny!)backward sloping block, in an established suburb south of Adelaide. We are looking forward to watching the build from next door (this could be a good or a bad thing I guess!).
We went to many builders and found that most were not interested due to the small size of the block or because it was too sloping (the slope is 3m over 30m). One of the sales guys told us to sell it! We happened to come across an amazing sales guy at a display home who designed a custom build for us, and after a few months of changes here and there, we settled on the final plan. We are currently waiting on council approval. Fingers crossed!
Our taste is a little bit old fashioned with the facade, but it fits into the area we are building in, and I have always loved this style of house.
Here are some photos;
Here is the photo we presented to the building company as the style of house that we wanted:

Our tile selections

The big white tile is our kitchen splashback tile, the big charcoal tile & the white tile above that will be in our powder room, ensuite and main bathroom, the laundry tiles are next to that and the other charcoal tile is the tile for the steps outside laundry, sliding door etc. I know there is a theme there, but I love charcoal and white! (clearly!)
Our brick are going to be austral georgian red with the white mortar, charcoal roof shingle tile, monument gutter, surfmist fascias and garage door and I forgot the name of the window colours but it was some kind of white.
Inside we will have white walls (maybe Dulux Antique USA - we want a WHITE white), solid Jarrah floors through the downstairs hallway and family/kitchen/pantry areas. Carpet in the living area, lounge, the stairs leading upstairs and all of upstairs. (guess what colour - yep charcoal!). Am hoping the Jarrah floors might soften the starkness and break up the sameness of all the charcoal and white.
Would love any suggestions on what colours we should do our kitchen cupboards and benchtops - at the moment I am thinking all charcoal or all white (yes I'm serious!).. Is this too much on the theme?... please help. (The ceilings in the family/kitchen/pantry are 3m.)
Thanks for reading
