There's a few patch up's they've done but overall its a very smooth finish. I'd love to see some photos once your floors are done! What's happening next at your place? I had a major 'Omg we're so poor now' moment today, but I'm sure I'll adjust We completely underestimated the cost of paint too, we thought maybe about $350, errr try about $1000!!! ~*~Moved in on the 16th April 2011~*~ Re: Zoe's mama's build -handover done!! let the painting beg 189Apr 01, 2011 11:28 pm hehehe - I know what you mean - we are expecting the extra funds from the bank next week so hopefully we can speed up some of the works... Tomorrow - electrician is going to do the last bits and pieces, tilers will hopefully turn up to finish the work (except grouting), next Monday - tilers to grout, Kresta rep to come and measure and quote on venentias for our bathrooms - found that their venetians (no holes one) can be closed fully hence privacy... Wednesday aircon is being installed to be comissioned on Thursday Friday delivery of our table, coffee table and lo-line entertainment unit... Still painting so hopefully the week after we'll be finished and we can get the carpet and curtains installed... Waiting from our contractor to confirm when he can start on the retaining walls and then will get the expossed agg for footpaths, alfresco and portico... NO MORE SAND Still have the fireplace to be installed and lots of other finishes to be done - it's a long term project so no point in trying to hurry and get it wrong - although everytime I go to the shops I see something new and think wow... that looks beautiful... too late though... All those finishing touches (fireplace, exposed agg) will look awesome when they're done. Worth the wait Have you taken any holidays from work to 'nest'? Re: Zoe's mama's build -handover done!! let the painting beg 192Apr 02, 2011 3:36 pm Thanks aga! I went to see hubby, dad and F-I-L all priming the walls today. They primed the cornices too which didn't need anything, they were already painted The primer is a yucky yellowy white too. I worked up the courage to tell hubby after a while. He took it pretty well although my dad was insisting the cornices were raw plaster And I had a major paint colour melt down! All along we were definitely having solver tulip white, and once a sample was put on the wall it looked mauve So I trotted back to the paint shop (Bonanza Paints in Inglewood are fantastic! So knowledgeable) and asked for some advice. We've ended up with smoke pearl which looks great. It's got a more grey/brown base from the umber, and the tulip white throws a real purple because of the brown oxide and black tint. You learn something new every day! We have to tie in with the ivory splashback tiles (they're a very creamy yellowy white) and the kitchen laminates etc. Phew! So glad that's sorted, and before we bought 50 litres of the wrong paint!! My hubby will NOT be repainting (and may well divorce me ) if I don't like it so I'm very relieved. ~*~Moved in on the 16th April 2011~*~ Re: Zoe's mama's build -handover done!! let the painting beg 193Apr 02, 2011 4:33 pm Lucky you caught it early.
