They're nice and warm, or is it a lighter whiter colour you are looking for? Out of your photos i prefer the 2nd too, not a fan of the top one. They don't look yellow at all to me when I open the full photo. Not a fan of yellow, looks like they've just put up yellow sand walls with lines lol. Re: Perth,Updated house plans,do we need to re-think anythin 503Nov 03, 2010 11:45 am Best bet is to view the bricks in person, and think about the mortar you are choosing. We have a brick that's custom made just for RBC that we use on the Country House display home in Ellenbrook. The batch just run came out a little darker than usual, and some of the people using it are going with a lighter mortar now to soften the brick tone. It's always good to get a few of the bricks and take a look at them in the shade, and under the sun. Some places will have foam strips in different colours to reflect mortar which you can hold up against it. Re: Perth,Updated house plans,do we need to re-think anythin 504Nov 03, 2010 11:51 am Mornin Mrs G Long time no chat Must have a lookie at your plans you have put up Agree about the looking like yellow sand walls, blerk We are after a creamy colour, have to show my man who came home yesterday So if we use one of these we now need a roof, gutter, down pipes colour & paving. The paving has to be a darkish colour because of our kiddies, showing dirt etc. Do like Dune,Jasper. Also surfmist but i think this is TOO light Think maybe Jasper, though its dark & lighter would be better for being cooler Bah,who knows Jay,we looked at those bricks on the display home there, did like them but ended up thinking that they maybe abit pinkish. They would be very nice for a Cottage Home look. cheers Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! Although we did cream pavers around our pool and you couldn't stand on them in summer either. Our bricks in Mindarie were nice and creamy, but i've have no idea what they were and they probably don't exist anymore. How yellow they will look probably also depends on what you're putting against it as well, window frames and gutters etc. Some colours would bring it out more than others. I only uploaded kitchen layout plans. The builders have sent the wrong elevations to council and we want to change some other windows now too so waiting for my man to get home next week so we can rope out the house and check to see if we get a 3rd view (which I have TG to thank for, i'd not even noticed it ). Jay don't suppose you could recommend which companies are good to use for double glazing? A friend of ours had theirs done through Poland and saved a heap of money but not sure i'm that gutsy. Re: Perth,Updated house plans,do we need to re-think anythin 506Nov 03, 2010 7:44 pm Hi MrsGreen, We use Stegar, Boral and Dowell - we tend to put out for quotes to all 3 and see what happens. Unfortunately we're not spoilt for choice like the Europeans so it's still relatively expensive. Every time i watch Grand Designs i get extremely jealous of how much cheaper items such as this are compared to us in Australia. You can definitely save money sourcing it from places overseas but obviously you have to be mindful of the risk and also Australian standards. We've had people do it before but they've had a contact of some sort. I personally wouldn't do it unless i knew someone and the saving was going to be quite remarkable. Also check with your builder on allowing you to do this sort of thing - some builders won't allow owner supplied items and won't take responsibility if they are damaged on site or are stolen. If you plan to do it at a later date, remember your window frames now won't necessarily accommodate double glazing later and swapping over or adjusting can be a very costly exercise. Hence the mind thought - do it once do it right. Hope this helps!! Jay Re: Perth,Updated house plans,do we need to re-think anythin 507Nov 04, 2010 2:26 am I have decided to never go away again. I am going to stamp on my forehead "get son to show me how to post links etc" i always move onto other things & forget. Plus i just gotta get up with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyhoo,we have a meeting tomorrow, have ironed afew things out 1 plan is just getting too big & we need to extend envolopes etc,too hard, well not hard esay enough to do,the cost is just blowing out,we are tired off it all. 1 plan fits alot better & enables us to do more finishing off after the build, flooring, window treatments, shed, pool etc. We also got an email from 1 builder saying they are willing to crunch number's to give us a smashing good deal ,we'll see All the feedback, mainly on here off them has been very good & we went to acouple of finished homes & were very impressed. 1 builder is not so popular & is making us question building with them, though their sales guy has been wonderful, very patient & understanding, nothing is too much trouble We sit the plans side by side & compare inclusions, pricing, value for money, design detail, build history blah, blah So depending on the "smashing deal" we are 1/2 a step away from deciding, tomorrow will give us a good idea of what we are doing!!! Whilst I am confident our house will be good quality I wonder if all the crap beforehand is worth it. Customer service is such a big part of building a house and contributes significantly to how you feel about the whole process and the finished product. I am really looking forward to hearing what you decide - I am so very much hoping you choose _ _ _ _ _ _ _, cause I would hate you to have to contend with what we have had to...you are just too nice Happy, Healthy Free Range Wessex Saddleback Pigs My doom and gloom paperwork nightmare viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32170 Construction viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43653 Re: Perth,Updated house plans,do we need to re-think anythin 516Nov 07, 2010 11:20 am Thank-you V,that is lovely of you to say Really the way we have been treated so far is VERY good. There is a huge amount of factors when bulding as you know,price,design,staff/help,the deal or extra's you get blah, blah. I have always said that this company builds homes we like,BUT,their standard items for the price you pay for the home is just that "VERY STANDARD" Everything is an up-date extra. The other house plans standard items are very much more up with it & modern. And sofar the help/staff has been the same.Alot on here have built with them & are very happy. Putting them side by side,1 stands out on the value & design. 1 has things that we had to change with the other house in the design already,so we would save money there. R company house as standard was about $270,000 maybe +,% charged for doing own earthworks, very standard inclusions,no solar power (but can have at a huge cost),1 we would have to extend building env, blah, blah Other home as standard $231-000 no % charged for doing own earthworks, standard inclusions are very good, better kitchen set up,kitchen out onto elfresco, built in linen press-good size, same huge pantry, solar power & hot water, fits better on the build env, etc. Plus this builder is willing to do a deal to make us build with them,i do not believe for 1 moment that this would affect the quality of the build. I also wont to point out that as far as we are aware both builders could use the same earthworks company as us, so any extra charged for ensuring the work is done properly is quite because the same enger etc would be used & the works have to be done to a certain standard anyway!! With both companies we would be employing a fellow to keep track off it all anyway,we have used him before & trust his judgement 100% Sorry its so long, was just thanking you & i just started thinking it all through & typed away. Anyhoo, yes your company has been great to us with help etc,but we think they let themselves done in other areas, sadly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So,who would you build with Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! He has a great reputation locally and was extremely helpful to us. Or we would build with Total Home Frames as we really like their Queenslander (plus it would probably suit our site better than a double brick house anyway) Gosh if I could turn back time I NEVER would have walked into that Display Home in Busso 16 months ago! We too were going to go with them originally but they decided not to build here when we were looking to sign. I'm wondering if that's someone humpmump should consider. Re: Perth,Updated house plans,do we need to re-think anythin 520Nov 07, 2010 9:55 pm kerry-ann Really the way we have been treated so far is VERY good. I must say that I totally agree with this as far as we go too. We've been treated very well. I had an old shower unit that broke on me and when I took it off, there were only 2 water pipes, instead of the normal 2 water pipes and a shower head pipe. Large storage closet would be more functional. 2 6936 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6703 |
