Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 11, 2010 1:05 am Hi all, Just out of curiosity can people tell me whether they have any mis-aligned brick perpends and where it is located (any photo's would be great)? Are there any Australian Standards that covers this or it is just an aesthetic issue? Some of our bricking perpends are mis-aligned around the house but the most noticeable ones are in our alfresco area. The brickies did a good job for the garage, front and left side of the house but then it just went a bit downhill on some sections. What you think of the workmanship below? Is it something to be fussy about? Look at the brick course area just above the head height of sliding door and window Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Look at the bottom brick courses Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Any idea why they would have the weep holes at the top? Re: Brick Perpends - should they be aligned?? 2May 11, 2010 9:30 am Is that two different mortar colours there? It looks like they used different brick lengths to make things fit between the window and door, but then at the top they stuck a leftover short brick in the first row. I don't know how it's supposed to be done in a situation like that. My guess is the perpend mis-alignment was caused by laziness to measure because I checked other houses that are the same house type around the estate and all the perpends are aligned around the alfresco area. Re: Brick Perpends - should they be aligned?? 4May 12, 2010 11:44 am Looks like the frame is the cause. The brickies have tried to follow the windows, and the windows are located in the frame openings. You can see the window sill is where the problem starts with 4.75 bricks between the window and door. I'm quite afraid that the brickie might take offence and will do a crap job on fixing it so we're half regretting. So fingers cross that the brickies understand and will do a good job. Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13769 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 15997 |
