Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 10, 2010 11:08 pm Hi, Can someone in the know please advise me if a retaining wall is usually included in the building permit application. The permit I have says nothing about the requirement of a retaining wall. The problem I have is that I don't believe that a retaining wall is required along my fence to hold back soil from the house because the fall is only 9cm at max from one side of retaining wall to the other. The builder has stated (a retaining wall of 300mm max is required). We have 1.2 metres clearance from boundary to house and at least 2 m from porch to boundary at centre of retaining wall. We have it listed as provisional in the tender but the builder says it has to be installed because it has been included in the building permit and is required to get a C of O at the end of construction. Can anyone who has gone through this please help. I'm going to call the council who approved the permit to see if it's an easy amendment, though I doubt it. I really don't want to pay for something that may not be required. Building in the Maples, Laurimar. If yours is only 300mm (if i read that correctly) no permit is required. Life is; then you tell yourself a story. Re: Retaining wall - included in Building permit? 3May 11, 2010 11:07 pm Thanks, You are right. I spoke with someone at BPi today and they confirmed that it may be required because it was submitted with the application but they will determine if it's required at the final inspection. The SS today says he think's its not needed either. Thanks for your input Building in the Maples, Laurimar.
