Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 08, 2010 5:59 pm Hi everyone, Below are some links to our exterior - 2 x townhouses in inner melb. What color does everyone think we should paint the front door? Also the unit on the right has a drain pipe that is currently ruining the asthetics... Does anyone know anything about drainage as I'm thinking to remove this? There is also a drain pipe just around the corner.. it's seriously only 1.5 meters apart (this one is not visible on the photo). Do you really need that many? My mums home is 4 times the size of the townhouses and doesn't have a drain pipe along the whole front... http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... ment-1.jpg http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... ment-3.jpg Re: Help..What color front door? 2May 08, 2010 7:43 pm hmmmmm Hi everyone, Below are some links to our exterior - 2 x townhouses in inner melb. Re: Help..What color front door? 4May 08, 2010 7:47 pm I see what you mean about the drain pipe. If it had to stay there why didn't they paint it the same colour as the render so it doesn't stick out. I'm no colour expert but if it was my house I'd choose a colour to either match the roof, garage door or the bricks. Re: Help..What color front door? 10May 09, 2010 11:00 am Hi hmmmmm, you may have to keep the drainpipe where it is but I would definitely paint it the same colour as the render. As for the doors, my suggestions are as follows: the one on the left (without the facebrick entry) I would paint it a similar colour to the garage door. As for the other one paint it in a similar tone to the render as you don't want to make that porch area look too dark. I love high gloss white doors or the same as the render above the door. What colour are your window/door frames? Hope it's ok for me to put this photo here http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af168/hmladenis/exterior/GetAttachment-1.jpg Re: Help..What color front door? 12May 09, 2010 1:15 pm Totally fine. Window and door frames are grey/ silver. The unit on the right will be having a side gate out of merbau. We are also thinking of having a merbau fence to tie in with the garage.... Re: Help..What color front door? 13May 11, 2010 11:37 pm I wouldnt want to touch the drainage. Its cheaper and easier to disguise it. Where the downpipe leaves the fasia/roof edge, paint it the same colour as the render, that creamy tan.
