Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Sloping Block Builders Melbourne 41Jan 16, 2015 8:37 pm Hi All I have been stung by sloping block builders as well. I tried to give them a chance thinking they would not treat me like all the horrible things people has said here. I signed with them because they were so friendly and honest at the start. TRUST ALL the bad things people say, I am currently experiencing it and I joined this forum to warn others. I am the biggest fool to believe they are honest builders. Re: Sloping Block Builders Melbourne 42Jan 16, 2015 8:55 pm Where are you building? We're currently trying to get occupancy after 14 months and still ongoing issues and the house not finished, the quality is VERY poor and communication is by far the worst I have come across. Re: Sloping Block Builders Melbourne 43Jan 17, 2015 9:21 am We are building in the north. You are lucky in one sense, that you are trying to get occupancy after 14 months. After 10 MONTHS we are still only at the base brick stage with issues, no frames and rusted steal beams. Re: Sloping Block Builders Melbourne 44Jan 17, 2015 11:17 am leighton I agree with StructuralBIMGuy. That is why now all my houses are engineer designed and I get an engineer to inspect the frame. My total number of independent inspections has climbed to approx 13. You can't rely on one person and you cannot rely on a Building Inspector. You need many sets of eyes. Hi Leighton It is one thing having homes properly engineered...yet it is another thing making sure that clients,Subbies, suppliers, builders, insurance companies and the Building Commission understand the consequences of getting it wrong (ie. Data->Details-> Build... along the entire supply chain). Supply chain Apps, IMO will have a huge bearing (no pun intended) and influence here. When you consider all the stages, conditions, large amount of variables involved, complex PDE calculations, BIM, FEA presentations, etc,etc and all referencing Time (non stationary... simulations). LOL in the old days a week would pass and the concrete would rock harden before you would be able to fully multi-discipline analyze site variations, (eg environmental, soil, design, construction, maintenance, etc then you start to understand that It was near impossible to manually do the calcs a few years ago, let alone the presentations that average people would understand...but thats all changing Now that data and cloud based computing are focusing on Architecture,Construction, Engineering and difficult builds. Hopefully, theyll filter down and become accessible, usable and affordable. Sorry for the rant..But if you have had problems, or are having problems post here..I will keep an eye out and assist where possible, and think of it this way, you will be doing your bit to help others Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Sloping Block Builders Melbourne 45Feb 24, 2015 6:04 pm Hi StructuralBIMguy. thanks for the rant as you put it, but of course you hit the nail on the head. It is harder today and engineering is just a piece of the puzzle. I have been so busy for the last few months I haven't visited here. But the difficulties abound e.g. the planners preference for articulation even with simple basic homes pushes the project into more engineering and more steel beams etc. More expensive and more complexity in the build. We are using our BIM capabilities to "see" how the engineering impacts on the frame. And the plumbing too. With double storey houses, this gets problematic. cheers. Re: Sloping Block Builders Melbourne 46Oct 16, 2015 2:00 pm Christoshizz Keilor east. Reading some of the posts from various users is making me feel like I want to steer clear of this mob. Hi, we are looking to builder in Keilor East - Vally lake. Any recommendations appreciated. Thanks, Nicole1983 Re: Sloping Block Builders Melbourne 47Oct 19, 2015 9:34 pm I would be looking for a custom local builder i did click it, still couldnt make it out rofl. in any case, doesnt look like too extreme a slope, you may be in luck.
