Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 01, 2007 8:59 pm Hi all,
I have a piece of concrete slab ( 4m x 2m) as a porch and was wondering the following about decking it: 1. As the clearance is only 6" from slab to bottom of front door, I'm assuming I can't use bearers and joists to support a deck. Can I just lay the decking directly onto the concrete with some kind of moisture barrier im between? 2. Would I need council approval for this small deck (Wyndham Council)? Thanks Re: Porch decking 2Oct 01, 2007 9:32 pm Touchingcloth Hi all, 2. Would I need council approval for this small deck (Wyndham Council)? Thanks The following PDF shows what constructions are exempt from obtaining a building permit in Wyndham Council. My take on whether you need approval.. it's an existing slab and is less than 20sqm, so I don't think you'll require approval. I quick call to the council should provide the answer though. Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 13554 Use a product like Equisol's Vitalise to clean the deck then coat with a penetrating timber oil. It will look 10 years younger and add value to your home.
