Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 20, 2014 11:18 pm Hi have been reading your very helpful posts for a while now and finally figured out how to post myself We are building the aveling chianti but with a modified kitchen / living area layout, would love to know how long it took from signing up to slab down for other people ? we are past the six month mark now since signing the preconstruction contract and getting a bit anxious! Re: Aveling build chianti modified 2Apr 21, 2014 9:56 am We are also building with Aveling. We are building the Santa Monica. We are nearing the 6 month mark since signing up and still no start on site. We are hoping it will only be a few more weeks as our final plans are ready to be submitted to the shire for approval and once we've got a building permit we should be good go. What stage are you at? My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Aveling build chianti modified 3Apr 21, 2014 10:37 pm Thanks for your reply sounds like we are at about the same stage here is how things have gone so far: Signed preconstruction contract 17/10/2013 Block settled 21/11/2013 Received first plans 21/12/2013 Signed and returned 15/1/2014 Finance approval 14/2/2014 Pre start 21/2/2014 Water meter 12/3/2014 Amended plans/contracts 28/3/2014 Returned 2/4/2014 I will upload some photos will just need to figure that out first Re: Aveling build chianti modified 4Apr 21, 2014 11:12 pm Here is our plan: http://s96.photobucket.com/user/Seabass ... d.jpg.html It is the aveling chianti however we really liked the kitchen in the redink biscay so tried to incorporate a similar design here is a pic of the biscay kitchen http://s96.photobucket.com/user/Seabass ... 5.jpg.html http://s96.photobucket.com/user/Seabass ... e.jpg.html Re: Aveling build chianti modified 5Apr 23, 2014 10:08 am The Chianti and the Santa Monica are almost the same plan. Love your choice of bathroom feature tile My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Aveling build chianti modified 6Apr 23, 2014 10:43 pm They are very similar we were actually looking at the Santa Monica today there are a lot of great inclusions and it's quite a bit bigger. We are actually thinking that it might be better to start with the luxury home and downgrade however our salesman said it was better to do it the other way. All this time waiting is giving me too much thinking time! My main doubt is the laminex in our kitchen we have gone for the standard laminex in polar white but wondering if we should have gone the silk finish it looks good but thought at the time it might just be covered in finger prints with two toddlers, would love anyone's opinion on this. Not sure if it is to late to change now tho ! :. our plans have been submitted to council, but awaiting the neighbours approval for a very small retaining wall - hope this doesn't hold this up too much :/ Re: Aveling build chianti modified 7Apr 23, 2014 10:54 pm Our tile selections for our ensuite : http://s96.photobucket.com/user/Seabass ... 1.jpg.html Main bathroom: http://s96.photobucket.com/user/Seabass ... f.jpg.html I'm happy with our selection for these rooms excited to see them in the house Re: Aveling build chianti modified 8Apr 24, 2014 9:39 am We started with the Chianti but added so much it was better just to go with the Santa Monica in the end. I'm hoping the silk finish doesn't drive me batty with the kids fingerprints - I will just need to teach them how to wipe them down once a week for extra pocket money. lol Your tiles look great. We were waiting on our neighbours to sign off on the rendered zero lot wall, we've been trying since January to get them to sign it off. Eventually OH had to phone them (he found all their details through Linked In) and tell them they were holding up our build, could they please just sign... they sent through the signed docs the next day... thank goodness. We are also just waiting for shire approval and building permit now.... hope its not too long, I would love to have the slab down the first week of June, but I think I may be being a bit to hopeful here. My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Aveling build chianti modified 9May 07, 2014 10:50 pm Haven't been on here for a while great to see everyone's builds moving along Good idea re the fingerprints ha ha We are still waiting for the neighbours to sign off on the retaining wall really wish their approval had been sought earlier it's been almost four weeks now, I'm tempted to contact the neighbour directly but aveling have advised against it :/ I would have thought it was standard to get this kind of approval, so if anyone else reads this and comes across the same issue maybe check with the builder if they have sought neighbours approval earlier on I wish we had asked the question ! Re: Aveling build chianti modified 10May 16, 2014 12:06 am Hi just a quick update after a call to the people who own the block next door we seem to have come to a simple agreement to build our retaining wall 100mm on to our property to allow for fencing, they also wanted compaction certificates. Seems pretty reasonable but there was some communication break down between them and the builder. Hopefully they will reissue the documents soon then it's back to council and hopefully on to site ! Fingers crossed Re: Aveling build chianti modified 11May 16, 2014 9:38 am I have to wonder what our buildier does to our neighbours... we also got nothing from our neighbours until we made a friendly simple phone call. My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Aveling build chianti modified - earthworks! 19Jul 05, 2014 11:03 pm Excited to say that we have had good progress over the past week mesh and plastic down yesterday ready for concrete! We hadn't heard from the office so we were very pleasantly surprised when we went past Re: Aveling build chianti modified - slab down! 20Jul 10, 2014 10:38 pm Happy to say our slab went down today! Excited ! Does anyone know how long it's usually taking for brickies to start, I know we will have to wait for the slab to cure but I had heard there was a bit of a shortage of brickies not sure if that is true - hope not http://s96.photobucket.com/user/Seabass ... sort=3&o=0 Thank you so much everyone.
