Browse Forums Building A New House Re: REDISHADES - ANY GOOD + AND - 2May 01, 2010 1:07 pm They are good if you put them up and then don't touch them! They also elongate over a short time once they are hung, so when you hang them and then trim the length, expect to trim then again as they will hang lower after a few days. If you keep clipping them up and down, they will start to look a bit ratty because they are only thin recycled paper. But they do look good from outside the house (for what they are) and are a very cost effective way of covering your windows while you paint, or decide on a more permanent window covering. Re: REDISHADES - ANY GOOD + AND - 3May 01, 2010 2:03 pm Have been looking at other's view on this forum regarding the redishades and they look like a good temporary solution. Picked some up today at the local Bunnings for only $3.50 each. Opened one of them up and they look quite decent for something that is made out of paper. Though they are not installed yet I think they will look ok. Did not have this problem at all! The very last redishade was up for 6 months, went up & down on a daily basis & still looked good. Very pleased with this product. Agree totally!!! Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: REDISHADES - ANY GOOD + AND - 5May 01, 2010 7:37 pm We still have them on a few of our windows and over our stacker door as we are still deciding on permanent coverings... I personally think they are great.. our ones over the stacker door are up and down all the time and still look good. Only thing that bugs me about them is folding them up probably because i'm short therefore my arms get tired as I get higher! Oh and definately trim them and don't just clip them up. DP wanted them just clipped up so I did and they caught lots of dead flies and bugs! They are alll now trimmed or pulled down and not clipped! 2nd build here we come in Whittlesea! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92617 1st Build - Henley - Cooper in Doreen! Wouldn't be without them, but they drive me crazy, putting them up and down and the get sucked out the window. Would still get them again though. They have been great. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: REDISHADES - ANY GOOD + AND - 7May 02, 2010 9:22 am I've had the majority of Redi Shades on my windows for 7 months. I have ordered the plantations to replace them, but they could take another 8 weeks to be installed! I have removed 4 from 2 windows when I installed white timber venetians, and they didn't remove any paint at all. I'm hoping the rest won't remove any when I come to take them off too! For the price, they have been absolutely fantastic. Instant, cheap privacy, and looks so much nicer than different coloured sheets or blankets, or even newspaper. The fact that they CAN be opened is a bonus! Most of mine often stay shut as it's just too time consuming to open them all every morning, some stay open most of the time, but shut if going away for extended periods. I haven't trimmed any of mine on the bottom, and just use the pegs to weigh them down and hold them in place on the window sill...works perfectly for me. That way I find they don't flap about as much if I have any other windows/doors open. After 7 months of opening and closing some of them, they are only slightly 'tatty', but still work perfectly. None have torn...even with rough treatment form 2 kids and a cat who likes to peer outside past them! Brilliant temporary solution, and they can be recycled afterwards...or used as craft paper for the kids with wild imaginations! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!!
