Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Henley.....Monterey or Lexington.....which do you prefer 101Oct 10, 2010 12:59 pm G'day guys & gals, This thread is priceless for all the info, has given me and the 'Minister for Waging War and Finances' some great idea's to put into our home design, well handmick looks like another Monterey Q1 'poster'. 'She who must be obeyed' won't budge off the Monty Q1, and this is still with the land developers (Mitchell's Run - Stage 14) knocking back our Approval in Principle written request, due to the size of the Q1 and set-backs within the building envelope, although, with a minor building change 'here & there' it will be approved. I wrote up the Approval in Principle letter (with off the shelf house plan) just to see what changes would have to be done, prior to going to H3nl3y and signing up then having heart ache when 'it can't be done' attitude gets thrown at us. H3nl3y advised me they can change the plan to suit and now have to sign up....yeah right. We don't take title of the block till June/July 2011. Anyhoo, enough of the rant....we WILL build the Monty Q1 with variations to suit. H3nely... oh dont get me started on them... Re: Henley.....Monterey or Lexington.....which do you prefer 103Oct 10, 2010 1:05 pm ROFL!!!! you've given me a good laugh Recchymech....here's hoping they approve the Monterey Q1 for you... Re: Henley.....Monterey or Lexington.....which do you prefer 104Oct 10, 2010 1:53 pm Well, I was thinking about doing a blog on our home, however, it might be a long time between drinks as yet no titles to land and only a few 'rough' sketches of our Monty variations. But there will be a blog folks....next year I'll be over in Melbourne and will commence the photo's....even if you g00gle 3arth Doreen and look for our block all you get is farmland (maybe a few cows). I'll be keeping in touch with this thread seeing what everyone's plans and idea's are. Re: Henley.....Monterey or Lexington.....which do you prefer 105Oct 10, 2010 10:09 pm Thanks handmick, I got onto photobucket. I hope this works. See link below for my changes to the Lexington Q1. Mainly they are in the Ensuite, WIR, and have added a butlers pantry and a shoe cupboard in the entrance hall backing against the butlers pantry. Also poster "somewoman" on this forum had a great idea for the laundry and I have made the same changes. Thanks "somewoman" this is a great idea. I have just emailed H3nl3y with my changes. I hope they approve all the changes. Yay!!! Now we are waiting on the final price of building the home to the level we want. E.g Higher catergory of carpet, tiles, floorboards. 9ft ceiling as per our covenant, the variations, etc...... I wouldn't be surprised that it will be an extra $50-$70K on top of the base price. Have a great weekend people!!!! H3nl3y said this was a good thing, our base price is lower since we aren't covering the cost of a display home somewhere. It made things like the electrical plan a lot harder since we have no idea about space, so fingers crossed. Chatz Hi, If you give a set of criteria as to what means 'good' to you, it'll give others prompts to respond. We considered Henley early on but there were two factors that… 1 10506 Black on light wood does look good.
