Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 30, 2010 9:51 pm Alright - it's definitely about time for this poll! Myself, I'm a guy, and to me it's pretty clear that most people posting on this forum are gals! Is that not the impression you got? I get the feeling I'm a fairly rare species here where I'm the one crazy and posting about our home construction, and my girlfriends just doing the reading! So what is it? Are you a guy or gal! Re: Are you a guy or girl home building nut? 2Apr 30, 2010 10:16 pm Yep... so far my suspicions are correct. 2 dudes, 5 gals! Hey - I have a girlfriend, and I'm still allowed to worry about our Render #1 color, right? Oh yes, that manly construction business! Kind of like those manly men *** removes offensive comments about tradepersons *** =) So yes, word of advice: if you have an asian partner, it's the guy who does all the build stuff hehe - otherwise, if your both aussie, apparently the girl has full control!!! In fact, we haven't had any disagreements at all. (I'm now wondering if that in itself is wrong? lol) No, I think this is just a sign that you have similar tastes. Same as my partner. She lets me know when she does'nt like something, and me too - but we've found this isn't very common in our build. We agree on many things, much to our own surprisement. A good thing Word of Warning for all the Male blogger/threaders here: When you go to your color selection, and the girl who does your selections is pretty darn cute, DO NOT, and I repeat do not mention this fact in your blog! Failure to abide my these terms will result in 'that look' from the significant other Re: Are you a guy or girl home building nut? 8Apr 30, 2010 11:01 pm Definate girl type-with the scars to prove it! The male half of the equation just gives me a list of his requirements and then washes his hands of any decidion making until we move in! The fourth time is too much apparently..... I do pretty much everything, much to Josh's pleasure. He just looks over my decisions (while staring at the game he is playing) and "agrees". Kind of like those manly men (**removed**) Dude, I'm a tradesman. Do you want me to come around and mess you up!! Only joking. (yes I really am). You do realise that not all tradies are Neanderthals. Some of us are intelligent and articulate people that choose to make our livings using our brains and hands. I think you only need to see the incredible usage of smilies to realise that this is a girl-centric site. I find it funny that nothing happens at someones house and yet there will still be 4 pages of and . Then a builders sign gets put up and it warrants 5 pages of and and . And you can be sure that this post will receive a bit of and maybe a bit of . I came to this site for technical information on various subjects. It seems that many use the site as a way of documenting their building experience (both highs and lows) and to pick up some ideas. That does seem to be more a woman's domain than the average blokes.
