Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 29, 2010 6:53 pm Looks like I'm going to go with PD in about a week. Put the $1K down, and getting a VARIATIONS quote (whatever that means). So can someone tell me what things I should address to avoid any major pitfalls that others may have unfortunately encountered. Does this variation thingy commitment me to anything? Should I put a large exaggerated site cost allowance or will they then make sure it costs me that?? I'm a major newbie at this and would appreciated all the assistance you good people have to offer from the contract stage to even during the building stage. I read something about getting fixed site costs with PD but is it a s simple as reuesting it or are you faced with some resistance from the sales person. thanks in advance Re: Getting started with Porter Davis 2Apr 29, 2010 7:32 pm If you click on my blog link (in my siggie) you will see our list of upgrades/extras in the right hand column. This will give you some ideas to start with as the sales people can get prices for the quote. My one recommendation is upgrading the insulation and adding it to the exterior walls (not sure if that is standard these days or not).
