Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 24, 2010 8:26 pm This afternoon I was very surprised to be able to enter my house through a window. The window couldn't shut completely and with a slide & climb, tee da, I went into the house. I brought it up with SS on the bowed jamb during frame stage when the windows were just hung in place. SS just brushed this aside, telling me a window service will fix it. See picture below. http://i780.photobucket.com/albums/yy81/rocketleaves/IMG_8163.jpg Well well, a window service can't fix a bowed jamb. During 1st PCI, this window can open and shut completely. However this inherent bow in the jamb will (in time to come) undo itself and the end result is a window that can't be shut completely, posing a security risk. BEWARE EVERYONE, and look carefully at all your window jambs & check for failure. With 2nd PCI on Thursday, I really don't think there's time to get this window replaced but I will play along and go for the 2nd PCI. Another thing I needed advise is that it's only today I noticed the garage unit brackets are installed in a slanted position. Picture below. Any one has such experience? Is that a cause for concern? http://i780.photobucket.com/albums/yy81/rocketleaves/IMG_8129.jpg Old Home Restoration / Renovation Cheers mate! This is exactly what I was thinking but wasn't sure if it was something I'd find on the shelf. I agree with you, fixing the brackets to the board will look… 2 3275 Building Standards; Getting It Right! When my house was built (over 7 years ago), the post brackets were done to allow for concrete porch, but they didn’t allow for the planned stone paving. I’m finally… 0 1913 This is 100% true. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 8021 |
