wow Jo great pictures and a terrific parcel of land you have there.

I love the floors ... Sydney Blue Gum is beautiful. Have to give Shaun from Planet Timbers a plug ... he's been great to us as well. Has given us a good price on our decking and couldn't get the same grade Spotted Gum anywhere else cheaper.

Can't wait to see the kitchen with toffee fingers behind the splash. If you like I could mock it up for you :wink:

Not sure about the Toffee Fingers.....want something darker than the peruvian clay, might have to keep looking or even go a COLOUR!!! Perhaps something with a hint of plum.....kitchen hopefully will be better take a photo by tomorrow with baulkhead in place & doors back on. I'll call on you to another mock up for me if thats OK.

Yes, Shaun from Planet Timbers was great & we are rapt with how our floors look - a real feature of the home!

I thought Toffee Fingers would look much darker than that, it was also on our short list for splashback colours...

Other dark ones we liked..

Army issue - has a hint of green in it
Tadpole,Lahar, Shot-put - All have a hint of purple
Rogue
Irrigation
Harold

Now that I look at some of these names, they have me wondering :lol:

Yeah, I think I still get a sample pot.

Looks much darker on the sample chip I got.

Yes I agree about the mock up. The colour is a lot lighter than the Dulux example. We also painted Toffee Fingers on a colour board and saw it painted on a wall in a display home and it was significantly darker than your kitchen example above.

Not sure how confident I am in the RGB values of Photoshop.

But then, colours do change depending on the surroundings and light!

OK, I'm starting to think choosing a splashback colour is going to do my head in.

I'm now thinking something like these glass tiles below:

I think they look really nice but all the grout worries me. Personally I would choose clear glass over your China White, it will blend in but you can add accents with some vases etc.

Ive seen those tiles used and they look awesome (have no idea about how they stand up in terms of practicality though) Your house is looking great by they way, I love everything you have chosen so far!

These tiles were on a website for Southern Cross Ceramics & I don't really know to much about them, but they come in 300mmx300mm tiles, so the *grout lines* that you see in the ones above are in the glass I think, although you would still need seem grout obviously...... :th:

Thanks Rachelle, I'm still wondering about this, the painter needs to paint the baulkhead in the China White so I'll get him to paint the splashback area as well, to see how it looks.

Have got a sample pot of the toffee fingers & will see how that looks as well.

Thanks Sharee - everyone seems to be doing glass splashbacks at the moment, nice to know that they look good.

Looks like I'm well overdue for an update...

A lot has been happening over the past month & we are moving in tomorrow week ::cheerleader::

Our floorboards are having a light sand on Monday & then the final coat of finish, so tradies have been working hard to get everything done before then.

Painter & electrician will both be at the house tomorrow to finish off & still waiting on a couple of little things for cabinetmaker to finish, but other than that it is nearly done!!

I love my carpet!!

Very happy with how it looks in the family room area, was a bit worried about having it "set in" rather than just having the boards & then a rug, but glad now that I stuck with this.

Having the boards direct stick has also meant that carpet & boards are the same height.

You can also see from this photo our TV wall. DH decided to make this wall on the angle & have drawers built in so TV can be on the wall & all cords behind the wall. If we need access we just need to take a drawer out.

It was another thing I was worried how it would look, but has come up really good (still needs to be finished off around DVD shelf)!

DH also did a great job on the jarrah window sill for this area

Roman Blinds went in yesterday, but photo's didn't turn out too good, so I'll take some more tomorrow - I promise :wink:

gweluphome, I had been worried about how this was going to work....I'm not very good at visualising.....but, now that it is in place I think it's great! We ended up getting the drawers made out of the same laminex as our kitchen (moleskin)

Thanks Bel, carpet is wool, loop pile. It is a cavilier bremworth and looks lighter in the family room than it does in bedrooms & study. I'll take some pics of bedrooms today.

Going to start moving some gear to the house today (mainly clothes, linen press etc). Luckily we are renting a couple of minutes from new house!

Wow, Jo K it's looking great!!! I think the TV/shelfs thingy's are a fantastic idea, pat on the back for your DH. Bathrooms look really nice as does the carpet and those floor boards!

You must be getting so excited! Enjoy moving stuff in even if it's clothes/sheets and towels :wink:
