Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 25, 2010 9:06 am Which water pipe do people prefer - copper of PEX (cross-linked polyethylene)? I'm trying to decide between the two options. Apparently the cost is about the same. Ideally, the hot water system should: a) Provide hot water without much delay b) Not be affected by other uses turning water on or off (the hot shower when someone flushes the toilet trick) c) Not waste much water or energy. I guess these ideals are satisfied by the way the piping is configured. So what pipe material and what configuration is best? This wouldmena that there is no connector to fail.
