Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Westy's Demo/Rebuild in Perth: December update 881Dec 10, 2011 2:15 pm I totally forgot to mention the other 'exciting' news yesterday - on Tuesday we also have our ducted a/c being installed! After the first hot (35C+) day a few weeks ago, it was quite uncomfortable in the house (30C) despite the R4.0 insulation and 'solar passive' design. The kids certainly weren't enjoying it, and neither was I! We thought we wouldn't be able to afford the full system and would have to make do with a split system and ceiling fans, but they just wouldn't cut it and would still cost about $5000 to install all up. We found a place with interest free, no deposit Christmas specials, which was a no-brainer really, so we signed up. Last weekend with 36C and 37C it was quite horrible and it just confirmed our decision! We went for a Fujitsu system in the end, very similar to what we had in the last house (which we had no problems with) but a lot bigger and with 8 zones this time! Pretty much every room will be on a zone which should help to cut down the running costs. Can't wait! Re: Westy's Demo/Rebuild in Perth: December update 882Dec 12, 2011 11:04 pm hope you don't me me asking but how much did the ducted air cost you? I'm deciding if we should get a few split systems or would the cost of full ducting be comparable. Re: Westy's Demo/Rebuild in Perth: Pics of new gates 883Dec 19, 2011 2:51 am Hi 'lasttimehopefully', the a/c was a bit over $11K (cash price) for a 14kW (cooling) inverter 3 phase system with 11 outlets and 8 zones. Pretty good if you ask me! We already had the 3 phase power in place. ----------------------- So I have finally got around to uploading a couple of pics of the side gates that we have been waiting a month to be installed (and about 6 months before ordering): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ (if I do say so myself) Both of those bricks walls on the boundary will eventually get rendered to match the house. The second lot of blinds are also on their way from iseekblinds.com.au - great quality product (from the 2 blinds we have installed), and great service too. This time we have 7 blinds coming, just in time for my Christmas holidays.... We priced up the same blinds with Spotlight, and we are saving around 20% on their 30% discounted price, so I can't complain that much! And I do have a nice new cordless drill to install them with. Re: Westy's Demo/Rebuild in Perth: Pics of new gates 884Dec 19, 2011 5:52 pm thanks Westy, that does sound like a good price. Re: Westy's Demo/Rebuild in Perth: Pics of new gates 885Mar 29, 2012 7:52 pm Hi I came across your thread by searching for Nocturne Oak Kitchen Cupboards. I must say you have been on quite a journey, but your house is beautiful. I was really worried about the kitchen colour but your pics have helped greatly. Congratulations on your new arrival lots of fun times ahead. Re: Westy's Demo/Rebuild in Perth: Pics of new gates 886Apr 07, 2012 10:12 am Hi westy, long time since last spoke, just wondering what company you used for the fence as we need to get infills for our rendered fence. You won't believe it but we are selling up in a couple of months and moving to geraldton and going to build another house. Better be a much more enjoyable process this time, at least this builder has been around for about 15years. Cheers kazzbah 6 22638 We've had the offer of a short term tenant whilst waiting for CDC/DA home approval and demolition for our knock down rebuild. It would achieve a pretty low rent as it's… 0 9870 5 4907 |
