I will post some pics when I manage to clear away the toys and 'stuff', and when we have actually done something to the place! Re: Westy's Demo/Rebuild in Perth: December update 879Dec 09, 2011 10:23 pm I haven't been able to do much since we moved in, what with the new addition to the family and selling the old house, but in the last few weeks I have started to do a few things around the place. When I looked back and realised I hadn't posted pics of the driveway, I figured it was time for a picture update! So without further ado.... More about them next week! And finally, I have started to insulate the garage door to stop the radiant heat from the afternoon sun. The door is west facing and I can't put my hand on it on the inside when the sun is on it! There are commercial products out there that will do the job, but I wanted to try something a bit cheaper more to cut the heat down than fully insulate it. I borrowed the idea from a renewable energy forum - I used a laminate underlay from Bunnings that has a thin layer of foam with a foil layer on one side, and then some aluminium insulation tape to stick it down (which is heat resistant to 140C). Total cost is about $50 which should do the whole door. Better than the $150+ I was looking at for the commercial products (Reflecta GDI, Retroshield Aircell or Foilboard)! Westy's Demo/Rebuild in Perth: December update 880Dec 10, 2011 12:06 am Looking good Westy! my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 We've had the offer of a short term tenant whilst waiting for CDC/DA home approval and demolition for our knock down rebuild. It would achieve a pretty low rent as it's… 0 13752 5 6812 if the original house is in good condition most of what you listed could be added in stages without the need for KDR and costs and disruption of having to live elsewhere… 1 13678 |
