Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 23, 2010 9:44 pm EDIT: Change of scope - actually need a concretor, not just someone who does driveways only! I cannot find a thread dedicated to driveways in Sydney where people share their experiences and hopefully show off their driveways. What kind of driveway did you get? Paved, stencilled, other (which)? Did you need a concil approval and if yes, how long does it take? What were approx costs (eg. per m2)? Were you happy with the work etc, etc? Did you do concrete paths as well? How important are they? They seem to be recomended in the "new house maintenace guide". We are leaning towards a concrete driveway, but paved ones are also nice. How do they compare in total cost? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... OK, anyone feeling better about posting something helpful here on this Saturday morning (which is a bit iffy ATM in terms of who will prevail - the sun or the clouds)? There are subtle differences... and others that are sledgehammer different. What quotes have you received from stencillors? Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Concretors in Sydney 20Apr 27, 2010 7:36 pm Geez Lex and I thought i was having a bad time trying to get driveway quotes. So far got 2 solid quotes i'm actually interested in after requesting quotes from about 8 sources. so far only got 3 responses at all. So far for 50 odd m2, stencilling seems to come around 3800-4000 whilst the exposed agg we're looking at is around 4800-4900 for the same area. Including reo upgrade to SL72, a 6m channel grate drain across our garage opening and excavation. (One quote had it as a separate charge whilst the other included it in the base price.) May not reflect on the sydney market but ballpark wise shouldn;t be too far off. Have you considered hitting up true local or similar, just to get a rough idea of pricing. Its easier if you have a firm idea of what your after per square meter. So far of the 'driveway' contractors i've spoken with driveway, front path its all the same. Though if you want a different type of concrete for your driveway vs paths it may cost more, different mixes, batches more time etc. Only other thing i could suggest is if your in a new estate or if there is one locally, take a walk around often i've seen signs of fencing companies and a few driveway companies tacked on next to their finished product or on the fence.
