Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Mumma's House~Doulton Q3~Frame completed! 61Jun 30, 2010 8:17 pm No pictures today, but I am happy considering they told me there would be no progress this week, we've got gutters and fascias up, we've got scaffolding in place and ROOF TILES delivered awaiting a beautiful sunny day tomorrow to adorn my house!! A call from SS confirmed the roof would be finished this week, electrical going in next week and then they are going to hand back the site for us to put in AC and dh to work his networking magic. The momument isn't as dark as the original look I was going for, I told the colors lady I wanted Woodland Grey, and she talked me out of it and suggested momument and I am super happy...I looove the color and can't wait to see it come together! The frame stage took the longest for us cos it all needed to be hand cut (custom build) so that took the better part of 2 weeks. But it seems you guys had your frame up within days!! Looking forward to seeing all your pics Re: Mumma's House~Doulton Q3~Scaffolding Up, Roof tomorrow! 65Jul 01, 2010 7:13 pm Congrats MM! I've chosen Monument and Evening for my fascias... Great minds think alike! Can't wait to see pictures of your roof! Re: Mumma's House~Doulton Q3~Scaffolding Up, Roof tomorrow! 66Jul 01, 2010 7:40 pm flagstaffIV Congrats MM! I've chosen Monument and Evening for my fascias... Great minds think alike! Can't wait to see pictures of your roof! Ooo, so what does the Evening look like, I don't remember seeing that colour? Is your roof momument as well? We did the windows, gutters and roof monument and the garage door and down pipes in Surfmist. I wanted a dark garage door as well but I was influenced by my consultant to have a light garage door, she said I was using too much dark?? I hope I am not dissapointed by listening to her. Our front door is going to be wood stained. I nearly went to the house today but dd was taking too long to get her shoes and jumper, too busy playing that I changed my mind and thought I should wait longer than going everyday so I can see more of a change. If I go tomorrow at the end of the day the roof should be finished, so pictures tomorrow!! Can't wait to see it! Non-house building related, but home related. Yesterday I blew up my SECOND oven, no kidding! Did anyone see the news special on oven doors that we shattering on the inside. This has happened to me twice in 6 months, with two seperate ovens. I was baking on a normal setting and the inner glass door just blew up after 10 minutes on. Shards of glass came flying out the top of the door, luckily the kids weren't playing in the kitchen. Has this ever happened to anyone else, and what are the chances of it happening to me for the second time!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our roof tiles are Magnum which is a dark grey colour. I guess ours overall isn't too dark as our bricks are quite a redish colour. If you go to my thread I have it all laid out... would make more sense Wood stain on the front door is going to look awesome! I wish we did that but we were too cheap OH no! That is not good!!! Is it the owners oven??? Re: Mumma's House~Doulton Q3~Roof tiles, windows, doors, oh 68Jul 02, 2010 6:01 pm I'll let the pictures do the speaking for this weeks progress!! I am a happy chappy! I know it's so much more fun to read when there are visuals...maybe I'll get in there tomorrow arvo. I dropped in quickly today to see electricians still hard at work, day 3 for them. I didn't realize anyone was there at first as they were ** and had parked around the back. I heard there voices walking up to the house so I just took some time to admire the BRICK delivery and was on my way home! Today I spent the entire day at different flooring shops, it wasn't really all that fun. I have a verrrry tight budget for my flooring. We have decided to go laminate in the entry, family, dining, kitchen and pantry and the rest will be carpeting. Most dealers seem to carry a different range of laminate, and I have no idea how to know if it's crap or a good deal, so I am going with Quick Step as the H1 community gives it good reviews. It's middle of the range for laminate pricing but it had some of the best colors. This is the one I think we're going with-- Quick-step Eligna Uniclic Long Plank 8mm Oiled Walnut Laminate Flooring Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ That leaves me with pretty poor quality carpeting but it looked fine to me. I found one $27 m2, the right color and nice square texture. Dh and I agreed we have to keep the budget tight and can replace the carpets in the future if needed. It was either cheaper carpet or cheaper laminate and I am more comfortable with the cheap carpet. Also makes sense since the littlies are so little, I call them my two disasters! Next, I need to price BLINDS! What is anyone else going for with their blinds? With curtains / blinds I'll probably be getting a mixture from Spotlight and Home Outlet. I don't know if there is a Home outlet in QLD though... sorry Re: Mumma's House~Doulton Q3~Brick Delivery & flooring shopp 77Jul 08, 2010 7:34 pm Your timber flooring is lovely - I think it'll look great!! For blinds I am thinking of having eco blinds throughout for my house and I will probably buy at super @m@rt. We had these in our last house and i was really happy with them - they weren't cheap looking at all. If they were, DH wouldn't have a bar of it - he hates cheap looking stuff . I think I calculated I can buy them all for around $1500 for my whole house too. For our bedroom though I'm also thinking of putting nice sheer curtains up over them. I love really feminine stuff - so something soft and sheer. Currently I'm really stuck on how to put window coverings on our alfresco. Ours is similar to yours (but we have 3 sides of our house opening up onto alfresco). Do you know what you're doing for window coverings for this area - I need some ideas too Re: Mumma's House~Doulton Q3~Brick Delivery & flooring shopp 78Jul 10, 2010 9:00 pm n&n02 Your timber flooring is lovely - I think it'll look great!!
