Hope everything works out for you, I'm sure it will. BTW - I checked your blog and I love your colours, I think they look great Thanks N&N!! Northbound That's just terrible . Not a great start, but hopefully it is onwards and upwards from here. I sure hope so!! The contractor has the new draft so I'm hoping he can get back over there quickly and continue. I think I need to chill out a little, we've been waiting so long already I should be used to it. I keep reminding myself, the longer until we're in the longer we have to save for things to go inside our house!! I haven't taken any photos yet until they are finished but you'll see it's some serious retaining. SS says they will be on site on Monday to start trenches and plumbing or whatever other things that must be done before the slab. Full steam ahead!! :):) MM Building Doulton Q3 with Plantation Homes My Building Blog http://thewebbs-page.blogspot.com/ Building Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32743 Re: Mumma's House~Doulton Q3~First thing that could go wrong 27May 29, 2010 8:04 am Good news that some "house" action is about to start. My new timber retaining walls... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The space between the first and second wall is going to be some purty gardening, if I learn how to garden. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The back wall and that hill behind it belongs to a church and has been recently planted with lots of trees so will eventually be a nice bushy backdrop Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And a look from the back of the block on the works done to get ready for Monday's slab! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So, if we do this again we'll be going for a flat, more rectangular block of land...the postion of the house and all the retaining haven't left us with much in the way of a yard...maybe once the slab is down I will be able to picture it better but I am feeling a bit down about that. The positive, I think the walls and the garden in front will be unique and give the place some character. And beyond that hill is a soccer field, so plenty of room for the kids to run. Here's hoping for lots of sunshine on Monday for your slab . Building a house for the first time is such a steep learning curve. You will find that you will learn SOOO much from this build, that if you are ever game enough to do it again, you will have some much more knowledge and will do trhings quite differently. Thanks NB, we've had lots of good weather and a SLAB. Will post the photos in another post in just a minute. You are so right about the learning curve. I feel like I am learning as we go along, next time, and I would guess there will be a next time I'll get it just right. From the back of the house...The left side is the alfresco, the kitchen and at the front of the house the living room, which is going to be my gym! http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q24/aussiemummy_06/08062010017.jpg The part that sticks out is the theatre, the pipes are for the powder room and laundry and the garage to the right. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q24/aussiemummy_06/08062010018.jpg The house is sooo close to the retaining wall, we knew it was going to be close but was meant to be a little more gap than that. We were told this was a risk we were taking. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q24/aussiemummy_06/08062010019.jpg A totally horrible picture of me after work, but my cute kids and all our excitment for our new house!! Can't wait for you to get some frame up!! Guess the girls must be loving the visits to the block now!!! Since getting to site PH has been great. Our SS is wonderful , there are things we are not happy with, all of which could have been fixed prior to going to site had their admin process been better. Ohhh well have learnt heaps. Looks like may have handover early july which will give us a 5 month build time Can't complain about that. Helps lessen the pain of the 6 month admin process Will post some new pics when I get some - painters have covered everything with plastic and brown paper so havn't been able to see the finished tiling yet!!
