Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 20, 2007 2:28 pm Hi All.
Just to update everyone that is interested, we have had a start on our site by the builder (Carlisle Homes) in the last week or so. It was slightly prolonged by a few council issues (see blog) but now they have started & looks like they haven't stopped yet. This was last week... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v229/firthy26/1106.07140.jpg ...& this is as of Tuesday http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v229/firthy26/DSC00405.jpg Unfortunately the weather here over the last couple of days has been average (typical Melb as some would say) so the slab probably hasn't been done yet. Might have to make a trip tonight to see. Oh yeah.... more pics on the blog too if you want to take a look. Cheers, Mike. Looks like you have the same tradies as the block behind you because there work looks like it stopped when yours started..... Re: The wait is over... 4Sep 20, 2007 2:49 pm Thanks guys.
The NSD home behind us took next to no time to get to the stage it's at, but that was about 3 - 4 weeks ago. It has definately come to a halt. Might have something to do with using our block for access... Shame the temporary fences have gone up.. Mike. Helen Re: The wait is over... 6Sep 20, 2007 3:18 pm Thanks Helen.
Not sure. Haven't met our supervisor yet. Should be next week we get introduced they tell me. I know this issue has been dicussed (at lengths) on another thread, so it will be interesting seeing how long between slab & frame. I'll keep you posted. Mike. Definately the main reason we chose that particular block in the estate... "The Views". Good luck with yours Brittany. I've been sooo jealous watching everyone else on here start their building process... not any more . I'm sure time will fly until it's your turn. Mike. You're more than welcome to keep an eye on the progress when you're in the area too. I can't be there every day so I want you to make sure the builders are doing their thing, not slacking off, you know what I mean. Got to keep those wheels of progress moving forward Oh, & BTW. You said they don't mess around... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Went past last night, not expecting too much... but I was wrong again. Mike. They were all at your place! Well done mate ... looks awesome. I have reverted to username - mattwalker Carlisle Homes - Grande 43 My building experience is here: http://www.ourgrandeplan.blogspot.com Re: The wait is over... 15Sep 23, 2007 8:20 am Yay! We are at the same stage (different builder). Our slab went down on Wednesday. We haven't been game enough to walk on the concrete yet as we didn't know how long it would take to set fully.
It's good to finally see some progress isn't it! ~Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: The wait is over... 17Sep 24, 2007 9:17 am Thanks all.
Was thinking the same thing as you Matt... Was waiting for a post along those lines . Hope you enjoyed your holiday. Checked your blog Ray... Nice pics. Lucky you, getting to leave work early to see what they're up to. We have to wait til the end of the day to see the progress. Don't think there's any builders at all.. Carlisle just wave the magic wand before we get there & presto.. . Will be checking regularly to see what stage your at... Just to make sure our "wand" is still working. Hey Steve. The little fella has to know how everything works... & if he can't find out himself, he'll ask 50 questions to dad to get the answer. Cheers, Mike. Paid our first progress payment today so maybe we'll have a frame soon too.
Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: The wait is over... 20Sep 26, 2007 5:55 pm Wow, thats impressive
I just think its amazing that a builder actually builds the frames on site... up here they are shipped to the site already made and its just like a giant leggo set putting it together....
