Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 22, 2010 1:33 pm Hi
We decided to build our first home in Melbourne. Hope this is the good time to learn the building process. We decided to go with PD after visiting many display homes. We are building Cremorne with Ashmont façade. We want to share our building journey with you all. I will update the progress. Enjoy reading this and post your comments. Re: Building Cremorne with PD 4May 06, 2010 6:29 pm Lovely house, mervyn! There were a lot of Cremornes amongst the builds here a couple of years ago... it's been a very popular design. mervyn I think timber flooring cost too high (10K for 70m2). Can i get a contractor to do it after handing over?? if i ask the PD to do the timber floor Is there any timber board under the cabinet?? Yes, you can get your flooring done after handover. And no, there won't be any flooring under the cabinets - but that's the usual way it's done. Your contractor can lay floorboards in the dishwasher space and under the stove (assuming your'e having a freestanding one), but the cabinets will just have concrete under them. Re: Building Cremorne with PD 5May 06, 2010 8:53 pm Nice house, friends of mine built a Cremorne in Mernda a couple of years ago. There have been a few on the forum, do a search. I would get the floors done after handover, $10k seems like a lot to me Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Re: Building Cremorne with PD 6May 07, 2010 2:57 pm Hels Nice house, friends of mine built a Cremorne in Mernda a couple of years ago. There have been a few on the forum, do a search. I would get the floors done after handover, $10k seems like a lot to me Thanks Kek & Hels I checked the timber board prices and seems like too high. We have already sign the tender quotation. Can i ask them to remove it before the contract? I have an issue with entry door also. I wanted PMAD 920 & PMAD side lite. PD said they won't do Corinthian side lite. Is there anyway i can get this done? i am thinking to add it after handover. Any comments.... Re: Building Cremorne with PD 7May 07, 2010 5:02 pm Send them an email to take the floorboards out, it should be ok if you haven't signed contracts yet. Not sure about the doors though. My friends (who have the cremorne) had to replace their front doors as the ones that the builder gave them blew in during the bad storms last year. They literally blew off the hinges!! So they have sinde bought some big solid doors which handle the strong weather a lot better. Something to think about when choosing your doors... We moved into our Cremorne almost 18 months ago and it is a fantastic house to live in. I love it. Your colour selections will look great, I'm a bit of a fan of woodland grey, we used it everywhere We have the PMAD 104's and just got the standard side light. looks fine to me. I'd be a bit worried how busy it might look with double doors and sidelights all the same Might be cheaper to get your floors done after handover, PD's prices are usually higher so they make some profit out of it. What things have you changed or added to the house? Hope all goes well on contract day. Our main door single leaf with one side lite. That is the main reason we wanted side lite to be same as main door. what you have done is good for double door. We added : Evaporative cooling, Stained handrail/ steps with wrought iron balustrade to stair, opening to study/ family wall, Home theatre wiring. Ducted vacuumed, sound system wiring, upgrade tile, render to front façade, Roof eave, water/gas/drainage point for pantry (later we will build cabinet and use as a wet kitchen) and Platinum promotion package. Also moved heating outlet location and relocated Hot water unit to garage side Contract already done and waiting for council permit Does any one know how to add drawing. i have in PDF file Mervyn Re: Building Cremorne with PD 13Jun 20, 2011 11:04 pm Hi, Thought I'd re-open this thread!
