Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 20, 2010 3:53 pm Hi guys,
I must confess to being a long time lurker, first time poster!! My husband and I bought a block of land at Waterside estate (near Penrith, NSW) in October '09, which all going to plan, should be registered next month. We are building a Pembroke 21 with Rawson Homes and are currently awaiting DA approval. We recently made our external colour selections....talk about a headache! I am so nervous about the choices we made and hope it all comes together ok. Here is a pic of our block: I look forward to sharing our journey with you all Re: Building with Rawson Homes 2Apr 20, 2010 4:42 pm Congrats on the first post guys.... Looking forward to seeing your plans and color selection and following your build. I would love to include my plans to the thread... if I knew how to! Any tips as to how I can upload images from a doc? Re: Building with Rawson Homes 4Apr 20, 2010 9:19 pm What format are they in do you know are they a pdf or something? You would need to convert to a picture file. Some people even take photos of their floorplan and upload them. Handover February 2011 Happy with our home Re: Building with Rawson Homes 6Apr 20, 2010 10:20 pm Coverting files sounds a bit technologically advanced for me. Thanks for your suggestions robinred55. Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner and when I try to upload a photograh of the plans, I keep getting an error message which says 'Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached'. What does that mean? Re: Building with Rawson Homes 7Aug 17, 2010 2:19 pm We chose to build a Rawson Home after our first builder went into liquidation. They couldn't have been more helpful and even offered to set up a meeting with their bank manager if we wanted to be ensured of their business stability. We already had a house design which incorporated our caravan under main roof. Other builders had tried to steer us towards their own designs & modify our requirements, but Rawson were very helpful in using our design and building us a high quality home - perfect for our needs. The whole process took about 12 months. You would always expect a few hiccoughs along the way, but nothing that couldn't be fixed or made us lose sleep, and nothing that made us regret our decision to go with Rawson. Our experience with Rawson was a positive one, from the sales team to the administration staff, and I can't praise the Supervisor (Wayne) enough for his patience and attention to detail. Are we happy with our home? You bet! Everything is of the highest quality and just what we wanted. It is a home we can be proud of. What does that mean? To post a pic on here you need to host your photos on photobucket or a similar site then encapsulate the pic url within the image brackets I use photbucket as I find it very easy to use. 1. Upload your pics to photobucket then 2. Roll your mouse over the pic and a dropdown list will appear. Copy the [img] url from the list and paste it as is onto your H1 forum message 3. Check that it has worked by hitting "preview" and if successful your pic will appear in the body of the message. Note: there are size limitations (Height and Width) so if your pic is too big it won't work. Luck Thanx to "Knock it down" as I pasted from a their post. It's very reassuring! Echo- Thanks for the tips. They will come in handy if and when we have photos to post. Nathan Budde- You're a gem! That would be awesome. I will send you an email shortly! I'm very annoyed that I can't work out how to do it myself though! Re: Building with Rawson Homes 11Aug 19, 2010 6:35 pm Yay! I've worked it out!
Take a look at our floor plan: And our elevations: **Note the shading to front elevation A- this indicates where the moroka is located on the facade** Re: Building with Rawson Homes 12Aug 19, 2010 7:12 pm These are our external selections:
Bricks- PGH "Mild Steel" Roof, fascia, gutters, window frames and garage door- Colorbond "Woodland Grey" Eaves are 1/4 strength Taubmans "Roman Stone"- will post a pic showing the colour when I find one. We are having a B&D "Contemporary" style garage door which will look like this- Moroka to facade- Taubmans "Mossy bark"- not the best quality pic, but it's all I can find... Entry door- Taubmans "Roman stone"...not the right colour, but this is the style of door we are having (sorry about the tiny size)! Concrete driveway colour is called "River pebble"...no pic to show the colour at this stage. Re: Building with Rawson Homes 13Aug 20, 2010 12:17 am Some of our internal selections:
All internal walls will be painted with full strength "Morning moon", while ceilings/cornice and internal doors/door frames will be 1/4 strength "Morning moon". I don't have a picture to share the colour with you at this stage. It is white with grey undertones. Kitchen selections: Caesarstone kitchen bench top "Osprey" Glass splashback is by colourback glass and the colour is called "Grey quartz". Bathroom selections: The carpets we have chosen are a mid tone grey (not light, not dark). We still need to choose all of our floor tiles and bathroom tiles. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding colours? Re: Building with Rawson Homes 14Aug 20, 2010 12:21 pm Progress on site. How exciting Slab should be poured on Monday. I can't believe it's all actually happening Re: Building with Rawson Homes...Now there's pics! 15Aug 23, 2010 4:43 pm Slab is poured. Woo hoo!! Going to check it out this afternoon. I was surprised that they did not errect a fence at this stage of construction. I assumed they would?
Re: Building with Rawson Homes...we now have pics! 16Aug 23, 2010 8:19 pm Went out to the block to check out the slab. Excitement- turned into disappointment- Yep! That's some dirty big footprints on our alfresco area Will have to speak to the site supervisor about this one! Re: Building with Rawson Homes...Now there's pics! 17Aug 26, 2010 8:05 pm All of our external drainage was completed today. Plus, the BIG reality check- we received our first progress claim invoice in the mail today. And so the bills begin!
