Re: Building the Vasse @ Harrisdale WA - handover complete 82Dec 07, 2010 12:56 pm Thanks BCJ. Yea we love the feature ceiling in the kitchen, it comes like that when we asked for raised ceilings in the open living area. Deeps our alfresco paving was $2500 laid and sealed. It's 80mm thick. 12 March 2010 - Land titles received 3 April 2010 - Signed building contract 14 April 2010 - Prestart 28 April 2010 - Loan approved 30 June 2010 - Slab completed 27 August 2010 - Brickwork completed 22 September 2010 - Roofing completed 30 September 2010 - Internal walls plastered 12 October 2010 - Lock Up 19 November 2010 - PCI 26 November 2010 - Handover 29 December 2010 - Moved In https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32584 Re: Building the Vasse @ Harrisdale WA - handover complete 83Dec 07, 2010 12:59 pm Hey deeps just realised that you're just arond the corner from us! we're on Ferry Court just near the end of the "river" 12 March 2010 - Land titles received 3 April 2010 - Signed building contract 14 April 2010 - Prestart 28 April 2010 - Loan approved 30 June 2010 - Slab completed 27 August 2010 - Brickwork completed 22 September 2010 - Roofing completed 30 September 2010 - Internal walls plastered 12 October 2010 - Lock Up 19 November 2010 - PCI 26 November 2010 - Handover 29 December 2010 - Moved In https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32584 Re: Building the Vasse @ Harrisdale WA - handover complete 84Dec 07, 2010 4:18 pm Managed to find a brickpaver to pave the path along the side of our house. It wasnt easy finding someone to do it this time of the year, but this guy was able to do the job straight away. So he came this morning with all his gear, quoted, agreed on price, and started immediately. Was pretty quick too and im really happy with the work. Quick question, did you get charge more to put glass kitchen cabinet doors versus the normal or it is part of the deal given by the builder? Also, is it also a preference that the overhead cabinets in the kitchen not placed just below the bulkhead? p.s. i am going to be building with the same builder as you but I am still far away from the build. Re: Building the Vasse @ Harrisdale WA - handover complete 86Dec 08, 2010 10:55 am Hi axio99, yes we paid a little more for the two glass cabinet doors. But not much though. The gap from the benchtop to the bottom of the cabinets is standard height, so if you want your cabinets to reach the ceiling you'll need to request for "taller" cabinets. Otherwise if you placed the normal cabinets all the way to the top you wont be able to reach them unless you're 7 foot tall 12 March 2010 - Land titles received 3 April 2010 - Signed building contract 14 April 2010 - Prestart 28 April 2010 - Loan approved 30 June 2010 - Slab completed 27 August 2010 - Brickwork completed 22 September 2010 - Roofing completed 30 September 2010 - Internal walls plastered 12 October 2010 - Lock Up 19 November 2010 - PCI 26 November 2010 - Handover 29 December 2010 - Moved In https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32584 Re: Building the Vasse @ Harrisdale WA - handover complete 87Dec 09, 2010 12:07 am thanks Allanna...silly me, I never thought the cabinet can be so high...I will be having bulkhead in the kitchen so I thought I can do the cabinets till the bulkhead...cannot imagine having to clean the dust off the top of the cabinets..maybe I am too lazy hehe Re: Building the Vasse @ Harrisdale WA - handover complete 88Dec 09, 2010 10:31 am Nice to see your kitchen ceiling, ours has to be dropped for ducting and such. I orginally went for a 'stepped' ceiling but then thought about the dust that would sit up there that I couldn't see so have opted to return to this option. It looks lovely. It's also really nice to see an ensuite with only 1 sink We've got quite a large bench but I'll be damned if I have more than 1 sink to clean. Glad to know i'm not the only person option for just 1 sink. Re: Building the Vasse @ Harrisdale WA - handover complete 89Dec 09, 2010 11:34 am Thanks MrsGreen. We are probably only one of the few people in here who has single basin in the ensuite in our case our ensuite is pretty narrow so didnt see a point in having a double basin as we'll end up with too little benchtop space. Sparky is coming in this morning to fit the ceiling lights. We've also just had our ducted system installed, but am abit dissapointed with the outcome (see this thread: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=40579). When running on only one outlet the airflow coming out is still pretty strong, even makes a "whoosh" sound. I thought our system was supposed to be able to reduce the airflow according to the number of outlets opened....so not sure this is normal or am i just expecting too much? 12 March 2010 - Land titles received 3 April 2010 - Signed building contract 14 April 2010 - Prestart 28 April 2010 - Loan approved 30 June 2010 - Slab completed 27 August 2010 - Brickwork completed 22 September 2010 - Roofing completed 30 September 2010 - Internal walls plastered 12 October 2010 - Lock Up 19 November 2010 - PCI 26 November 2010 - Handover 29 December 2010 - Moved In https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32584 Re: Building the Vasse @ Harrisdale WA - handover complete 90Dec 16, 2010 2:50 pm Just an update.....wing fence and gate installed yesterday. Another issue with aircond now, this time the air just isnt getting cold enough even when set to 18 degrees! In our present house with an LG ducted system, it's already freezing cold at 20 degrees! But the guys can only come back to check our system next Wednesday. Anyways we've had a small problem with the floor clearance and the alfresco sliding door frame. As you can see from the pics the frame protrudes too low, so i'll need to cut or shorten it by about 10mm. Pretty nervous as im worried i'll make a mess of things..... I'm surprised the tiler didn't trim the door for you though, I would have thought that would be part of his job. If you take the door off you should be able to trim it with an angle grinder (make sure you have a metal cutting disc on though). Just cut less than you need to start with. I like the matching gate as well. Very neat. Did it cost much? Built with Sw1tch H0mes >Build thread< House status 15/12: Gates and A/C finally installed! The gate and wing fence on the other side cost me $600. I think it was abit pricey but I had a hard time finding anyone else to do before Xmas. Yea i was dissapointed he didnt want to remove it himself. But we managed to saw off the protruding bit from the sliding door....just used a hacksaw and lots of elbow grease! LoL. Now he says that the pantry door may not go back on because the bottom might need shaving.....he wont do it! When times get tough build a house...Our second build Re: Building the Vasse @ Harrisdale WA - tiling in progress 98Dec 21, 2010 4:59 pm Not very impressed with our Actron at the moment. Something's not right as the air isn't cold even when set to 20 degrees on the "Cool" function. Even our present LG ducted system blows freezing cold at at that temp! Another problem is that when only 1 outlet is open, the air blowing out is pretty strong. We got the ESP Plus for it's Variable Fan feature which we were told can ramp down the fan speed to the minimum according to the number of outlets open. Anyways im meeting with the AC installer tomorrow morning and we'll see what he says about our issues. Sharky, we got the showerhead from Select Solutions (www.selectsolutions.net.au) and cost $170. It's made by Novelli and im sure you can get them at most tile & bath shops. Picking up our rail shower set for the main bathroom later today, will post some pics of it once it's installed. 12 March 2010 - Land titles received 3 April 2010 - Signed building contract 14 April 2010 - Prestart 28 April 2010 - Loan approved 30 June 2010 - Slab completed 27 August 2010 - Brickwork completed 22 September 2010 - Roofing completed 30 September 2010 - Internal walls plastered 12 October 2010 - Lock Up 19 November 2010 - PCI 26 November 2010 - Handover 29 December 2010 - Moved In https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32584 Re: Building the Vasse @ Harrisdale WA - tiling completed 99Dec 21, 2010 5:17 pm Thanks.
