Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Acreage Building - New Beith (near Spring Mountain) 2Apr 19, 2010 6:08 pm Rochelle Hi all - i am a new user to this forum - found some great info!! We are currently building a Jasper house on an acreage at Teviot Downs, New Beith...we were tossing up between the Plantation Retreat or the Jasper however the base price was cheaper for the Jasper!! Hahaha....not now tho! so many hidden costs....anyhow, I was wondering if anyone that has built recently could help me with an enquiry regarding Bushfire Hazard Inspection Report.... We got one of these done by Bris Cert Group and they have said that our land is at medium risk - now they are wanting to charge an extra $500 to do a Bushfire Construction Report which we will have to upgrade certain building materials to minimise the risk!! They also advised we could get a second independant report and gave us a name of a guy to use - if it comes back medium we still have to go ahead with the report but if it comes back clear, we only would have paid for 2 x inspections.... Has anyone had to get one of these done? Not sure if its worth getting a second report done if anyone's has come back at low risk....its pretty cleared out there?? Thanks heaps... Hi Rochelle, We build the Retreat in Teviot downs, you may have been past our place. Our builder also put in an allowance for the bush fire stuff but we didn't have to do anything extra, we didn't even have to pay for more than one report. Our house is 3 back from the dense bush. So far I havent seen anyone in the area need to do anything extra. Check your land contract. We got stuff about the bush fire management plan with it. Unless Logan council has changed their rules I don't see why you should have to do anything extra either. Where is your block? PM me if you don't want to put the address up for public view.
