Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 19, 2010 2:49 pm Hi all, Well, our slab has been poured today so thought I should start a thread of my own after reading so many of yours over the past 18 months!! My name is Michelle and my husband and I are building with a local builder in East Gippsland in Victoria. We have 3 kids who are all soooooo excited about building our own home. This is our plan Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is our house on our block Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ These are our elevations (sorry about chopping the bottom one off, front is most important) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bricks- Boral Domino Render- unsure atm- something light to contrast with bricks- maybe dune?) Roof- Colourbond woodland Grey Gutters/downpipes- Colourbond woodland Grey Fascia- Dune Garage Door- Dune Windows- Ultra Silver Gloss Will put a pic up of the new slab after I take a photo this arvo!! Thanks for reading! Michelle Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Our First Build!! 2Apr 19, 2010 3:20 pm This is a great informative first post for your thread! The kids play area is so well situated. Im loving the concealed office area, such a great idea! Who thought of the shoe shelf/cupboard in the master bedroom, they are genius! The block size is enormous so plenty of room for your kids to be outside playing. Also loving your brick selection. The woodland gray (which we have used for garage/gutters/facias) will go superbly with it. Looking forward to watching this progress! NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS! Thanks Bioselfish- the consealed office and the shoe/cupboard in the Master bedroom were all part of the plan we selected with this builder. We searched for a house with the kids play area with lots of storage but alot of the plans we looked at with M (who we were also considering building with) only had one or the other. When I called this builder and told them what we were after they knew exactly what I wanted and already had a plan with everything we wanted! So no trying to change plans to suit or designing our own. Northbound- the storage cupboard in the kids play area was definately one of the things that sold us with this plan! We are very happy it! Just spoke with the builder and we are changing our fascias and garage door to Shale Grey so as to match the windows better. Will cost us an extra $650 to powdercoat the Garage door (not a standard colourbond door colour) but am hoping the difference between this colour and Dune will be worth the extra cost Thanks for your comments Michelle Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Our First Build!! Our floor tile is from Beaumont Tiles and is called Madison Mocha... was part of the builders range too I think. I am still unsure of the colour, I don't have a sample so am picking up one tomorrow to have another look. When was your slab poured? Do you have frames? I am wondering when it is likely our Frames will go up? Am hoping for the end of the week! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Our First Build!! We have a Slab! 8Apr 19, 2010 8:45 pm Thanks for the info shellb78! We had our slab poured last Friday, and supposedly they're starting framing after the ANZAC long weekend. Congrats Michelle, we are at a similar stage, our slab however has been poured since end of March. framing has been delayed due to some 'technical' framing issue, whatever that means. Funniest thing was that 7yo DS was busting for number 2's and we were trying to make hime wait until we got home. Wasn't happening...... so by the time we left all 3 kids had "christened the porta-loo!! Seriously, the colours & plan look great, but why is the house not positioned more centrally on the block? Do you plan to have a workshop & driveway thru to the back or something? Hi rosemi, We do plan on having a shed up the back with side access so we really did need the house positioned like this. In hindsight- we probably could have moved it over half a metre but we figured the other side of the house is petty much a "dead side" anyway, doesn't get any sun and won't be used for much. This way we have a big side and backyard for the kids! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Our First Build!! Slab yesterday.... framing today!!!! Comments on floors please 19Apr 24, 2010 5:18 pm I absolutely LOVE your floorplan - that has to be one of the cleverest floorplans I've seen in ages. I love the fact that all your bedrooms are close together and the play area in the middle is a great idea. Also - that concealed study is a winner!!! My husband didn't like my suggestion of us starting again with a clever plan like this!!!!!!!!!! Re: Our First Build!! Comments on floors please 20Apr 24, 2010 5:50 pm haha the photos are a classic Love the plan guys and your selections looking forward to following the progress.
