Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 19, 2010 10:02 am Hi, I noticed majority of people are building brick houses, so I thought I would create a thread for people building weatherboard houses So please use this thread to discuss any weatherboard issues etc. Also I would LOVE to see pictures of the weatherboard homes you are building or have built or renovated, its really exciting what people do and the colours people choose. Re: Thread for Weatherboard Homes 2Apr 19, 2010 10:41 am what a great thread idea. I am a big fan of weatherboard too and will watch this thread with interest. Re: Thread for Weatherboard Homes 3Apr 19, 2010 10:29 pm Great idea, most of our home is cladded with Hardies Stria, we are really happy with the look. Heaps of the homes around us have used a mixture of cladding including matrix & linea board. It has really added some interest to the house in the estate. Just one thing to keep in mind when using weatherboard cladding is to make sure you insulate the walls. I will try to post some photos tomorrow. We are on stumps so we have insulation in roof, walls and floor. We have the linea weatherboard all the way to the ground, so our builder has to put some venting in. Does anyone know what the weatherboard vents look like? I have seen brick ones, are they similar? Re: Thread for Weatherboard Homes 5Apr 20, 2010 8:44 pm I love weatherboard but we'll be building a modern home with some matrix or stria and skillion roof as well so I'm keen to see some pics showing it in contemporary designs. I seem to have misplaced my Look Home magazines when moving Re: Thread for Weatherboard Homes 9Sep 24, 2010 4:45 pm haven't built a weatherboard house personally, but manage a company that has built plenty! check out www.ruralbuilding.com.au In particular there's two designs - the Cape Skillion and Gnaraloo Retreat which are both from the Retreat Range. These homes are both fully framed and use a mixture of James Hardie Linea Weatherboard, Matrix, Axon and Stria. Re: Thread for Weatherboard Homes 10Sep 24, 2010 5:29 pm Hi JJ305 What a fantastic thread, I have just bought my fourth house and only one has been brick. This is a photo of our place which was an old 6o's house we have renovated, we have just sold it and are moving to a property with a clad home on it. It's not the same clad, the clad in this photo is James Hardie Primeline Heritage (that was the name when we renovated about 5 years ago). I love love love it. Jayw I love ruralbuilding homes, I often have a look and would love to have one of your companies homes (I live in Wollongong and am moving to Young next week) so it is really a pipe dream. They are the nicest plans I have seen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Thread for Weatherboard Homes 14Sep 25, 2010 12:31 pm Here is a few examples from around us. due to a lot of slopping block there is a lot of light wieght materials being used also we have an 80/20 rule in the estate on exterior finishes which gives us a lot off different looks in the area. On an acre also... even better Our dream is to get a little bit more property and build again. And we would definitely choose weatherboard again out of personal preference. 2 5942 1 19738 Hi, Apologies - I know there is plenty out there on this but struggling to put together the puzzle.
