Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who is building with Beechwood 1141Sep 01, 2011 4:33 pm sounds like there are delays all round lately. AFM - the tiler is just about finished (he is starting your job 2.2 on Monday) there about 2 boxes short of our feature tiles so he will be finishing off the tiling one arvo next week on his way home from 2.2's place. The tiles are Stunning. (tilers words) but they are, there so much more than what i expected. Im so so happy with them and the colours/textures we chose, i will post pics over the weekend. The house is finally getting the bricks cleaned tomorrow ...woohoo - ive been waiting so long for this day.... The paintesr are starting Monday, will be there atleast 7/8 days, then the electrician, carpenter, plumber all in the week after the painter, then walk through, SS said walk through will be in 2 weeks..woohoo, only about a month over contract. dont worry ill be mentioning something and trying to get some sort of compensation....Just cause the house is finally getting finished it still doesnt make up for all the stress, delays that they have cause over and over. I know the tilers are booked in for Monday but SS said they often start a couple of days late. Did you have 1 or 2 guys? Can't wait to see your photos of your place! I know I've been a bit slack in the photo dept. But when you feel like your dealing with nothing but problems you don't think to put up progress shots! AFM - fitting out was meant to be finished tomorrow but now the guy won't be back till Monday (hope the tilers don't mind company). We're having earthworks done out the back tomorrow which should finally give us a final shape so we can start planing some of our landscaping etc. Things like where the veggie garden will go and the new chicken coop. We got 7 two week old chickens this week! Very cute; just hope to many don't grow up to be roosters! We're still looking at a mid October finish as long as we don't strike any more major problems. The water tank was delivered on Tuesday but can't be installed because the slab is too small. Have to wait for them to lay another slab over the top. At some point the SS suspects someone has hit one of our brick columns with a vehicle and damaged 2 of the bricks which will have to be replaced. The kitchen is looking great (minus a couple of things) but I love the colours! just wish we could jump to the end of the whole process and be in our home! It's all been very stressful!! Glad to see everyone else is progressing well! I think acre1 and I have had all the bad luck so hopefully it will be smooth sailing for everyone else! We hav a complete roof with roof rails taken away on Friday:) The bricks are finished and have started being cleaned. Costa did the rough in on Friday. Eaves are on and the house is coming together well! Insulation is due to be done this week with gyprock to follow. We have run into some minor issues this last week.. Noticed the electrician missed our outside laundry light, our back sliding door has been installed the wrong way around (sliding from the right instead of the left) brick ties haven't yet been fixed to the frames, plumbing on outer brickwork is finished off very poorly and some other minor details that are better addressed at this stage rather than later!! I feel a little picky sometimes but I do want our home to be right!! Jacknruby, everything looks awesome!! Love it!! Hope u get ur keys very soon!! Hope everyone else is sailing smoothly Our blog: http://durhamsadventure.blogspot.com Re: Who is building with Beechwood 1152Sep 04, 2011 11:37 pm naynay what colour is your benchtop? Our benchtops were the quartz something brand which was our option other than ceasar stone. The colour is Luna Gray. The pictures don't do it justice. It's Gorgeous!!!! Question: does anyone have huge windows in their house that have had a 100mm piece of wood put under it instead of architrave??? They've done it to our meals area window and I think it looks awful! I'll be calling tomorrow to ask why. The window was gyprocked under so I can't understand why they stuck this wood over the top. I can't imagine how they would paint it - the wall colour or architrave colour?????? I'll try to take a photo to put up tomorrow. 20/4 - Earthworks 25/5 SLAB 9/6 Frame 21/6 Roof 5 - 22/7 Bricking 1/8 Gyprocking 16 - 18/08 Faulty Trusses repaired 17/08 Kitchen in 07/09 Tilers 15/09 Painters 30/9 Plumbers finished 7/10 Settled Re: Who is building with Beechwood 1153Sep 04, 2011 11:46 pm i would be curious to know exactly what you mean Anna. Ok so i have some pics, but before i show you them, i went to the house this morning, and the sander was there, apparently when the painter was there yesty he was really cranky as the house hadnt been sandered. so he went to another job so the sander went today and finished what he had to do, so i called SS to see what was happening, and he said the painter will be back in a few days as he started another job that was ready. The SS had a huge talk to me how he has had enough of it, he has the same problems for all his jobs at the moment about traddies not turning up when there meant to etc, it must be hard, but god, its not my problem, he just said look im really sorry, but im not going to lie to you, i have no idea what to do. i have owners calling everyday about work not being down, but there isnt a great deal he can do so i have no idea what will happen now. he isnt sure about anything he has no idea when the brick cleaner will be there, he has no idea when the tiles will be in so the tiler can finish off the tiling, he has no idea when the painter will be back. just great ! anyhow now for some pics The kitchen http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff235/Jett0807/SAM_0848.jpg The stone top - close up http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff235/Jett0807/SAM_0849.jpg my WIP http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff235/Jett0807/SAM_0851.jpg My oversized fridge space http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff235/Jett0807/SAM_0852.jpg The back wall showing pot draws etc http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff235/Jett0807/SAM_0850.jpg The stackstone feature wall in the ensuite (the main bathroom is having one aswell, but havent been layed) this is in the double shower http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff235/Jett0807/SAM_0854.jpg The floor - its a black marbly tile (this tile is the floor tile for all wet areas) http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff235/Jett0807/SAM_0853.jpg hope you like Our Acreage Build The Lakeview Lodge - Beechwood Homes 01/04/10 YES 2010 - Deposit paid 23/09 - PCI CANCELLED 28/09 - PCI - will it happen.-18 months later 07/10/11 - ITS OURS..WOOHOO Re: Who is building with Beechwood 1158Sep 06, 2011 7:50 pm Acrebuild-Your house is looking great. That stackstone is very different and unique. Regarding what the SS said about him not knowing ANYTHING, I thought that was his job to make sure he organises tradies and makes sure people are where they are supposed to be. I know he can't help it if tradies don't turn up, but holy heck!! I had to laugh when you said this Quote: ....he has no idea when the tiles will be in Jacknruby-Your place is beautiful. Feature walls are gorgeous. One day you WILL have those elusive keys I'm sure. Marknbet- Your house seems to be flying along. I really believe we get the raw end of the deal living out in the country. No one wants to travel apparently to where I live, so the SS told me. Anywho.....has anyone ever been pegged BEFORE they hand over the commencement letter? We have been pegged today and BW will get the commencement letter tomorrow. Strange. Tilers haven't been seen although we have a huge pile of tiles in the rumpus room. Had alot of earthworks done over the weekend and discovered that the pad for the hot water system is a full brick height lower than the back verandah so if we turf so the grass is almost level with our outdoor area the base of the hot water system will be in a ditch which will collect water and all the associated problems with it.
