I remember that!! You said I could have your fill for free. If only we had lived near each other. And when you pay for someone to take it away.,....THEY in turn sell it again to people like me. I think they call that double dipping. Have to start a dirt business. It's a win, win business for sure. No rust. I was told that it's better with pvc downpipes, as the colorbond ones make an irritating drip, drip sound and it's true. Does the pipe that comes from ground into gas meter get connected to gas supply that runs up the street? Reason I ask is that we made sure our power, phone and garden taps were all on the LHS of house which is 1.5m from boundary. Our RHS is bigger area with about 3.5m gap from boundary. We planned on having gate and path installed down our RHS. Apart from that, we wanted this side to be tody as it is more visible from the street then the LHS. We actually had to pay extra for meter box to be installed on this side due to it being over the 10m allowance. My husband has bee to site today and the gas supply has been positioned on RHS near garage. Meaning meter box will be right where gate was going to be and the footpath. To make things worse, the gas hose then runs up the internal brick wall of garage and is in full view. Meaning our main gas supply is in full view and also in position to be bumped or knocked by our young children. We really thought it would make more sense to position this on the RHS where all our other services are. Plus the gas supply hose would be able to run through wall cavity and not be seen or in position to be damaged. Have checked our plans and the tender and gas meter was never stipulated and no allowance is given to the gas connection. Surely it was best to position it next to all our other services. Does builder stipulate where it was to be installed or is it just left to the gas person to choose. It is obvious that easiest position has been chosen rather then best position for the house. Can anyone shed light on gas supply and meter box and what they arranged. We are also building with Beechwood in Gregory Hills. We are building the Merlot with Terazza. Our block has been leveled but thats as far as we have gotten and its been like that since mid December. Hopefully now that they are back from holidays we will see some more progress. We honestly have had a really crap time with Beechwood so far so here's hoping it gets better. Look forward to reading more on how everyone is going. My carpet is nice to look at but it is one of those ones that when you leave something on it there is an indent in the carpet that is really hard to get up even after vacumming. Just check when u are picking yours. I didnt go to the actual carpet retailer as they probably would have explained this to me so i could have chosen a different brand, i realise that they dont give you expensive carpet but its a pain. I left the vacumm sitting in the rumpus the other day and now i have marks where the vaccum was in the carpet. Also check with the tiler where they are putting the towel rack, mine was put near the toliet and its really not a great spot for it,way to close to the toliet. Not sure about toilet roll holders as they forgot to put them in!!! Hope the good weather is helping everyone with their progress. A Beechwood is going up across the road from me so maybe its another Merlot! From previous builds, they do take the easiest route for connections. But it would have been nice of them to talk to you about it. When we built with Coral Homes, we were told exactly where all our connections would be going and they were all together on the same side of the house. We actually had to tell BW to change the metre box because on the plan it was much further from the power pole which was silly. Hope you can get it sorted. loz&mick-Welcome and hope you have a stressfree build. We always ring our SS and he is pretty good with telling us whats happening next. If you think nothing has happened for ages, always give your SS a call. It saves alot of anxiety. Darn it. Will be a learning experience for us. We had paid extra to have power meter box moved on the plans. Gas meter was not shown and we just thought it would go on same side. However gas meter was installed on the other side as it is closest to kitchen and HWS. Extra cost is for the gas fitter to reattend and move it back. Luckily he did this yesterday and won't hold up our plastering. At least it's where you want it now. Bricking is nearly finished and I'm loving it. And they aren't even cleaned yet. Ducted air-con is in. Electricals and plumbing done. Gyprock to be delievered next week sometime. Things are moving along smoothly. Hope it stays that way.
