Painter didnt turn up on Tues... didnt turn up on Wed- at which point I panic.. I've been told that 'everything is still on schedule' and the painter is going today, tomorrow, and ALL weekend to be finished in time for the tiler on Monday.. Its so close.. but it seems almost impossible everything will be finished when they say it will! normally it wouldn't be such a big deal- whats a few days here or there... but when everyone shuts down over Xmas and we have to be out of our rental on 30th.. then yes! it IS a big deal! Grrrr!! You're so close and I hope they get their act together and finish the house for you before Xmas break. This is the worst time of year for everything. Here are a few photos I took this morning. They unpacked some bricks, moved them around and stacked them. They have done 2 courses around house then stopped. I am guessing they now need to get the termite barrier done. Am I correct? I would have thought the brickies done this. Does anyone know what the story is? Termite barrier was done yesterday so guess brickies will be back next week to start the brickwork again. MR, you will be surprised how quickly they will move on yours. In no time you will have a roof and brickies starting at yours. Hopefully our brickies move from our site to your site. Though it shouldn't really matter as I'm paying $11,000 in travelling costs. I mean most of them either live in Newcastle or the Central Coast. I wonder how much travelling allowance BW actually give the tradies and how much they pocket. At least the tradies still work over the break. That's something I'm grateful for. Are you still at brick stage, if so, we must be close to choosing tiles. How long have bricks been getting done at your site? We have had two days of brick work and they seem to have gotten little done. Each time we have gone past there has only been 2 people on site, young kid and an older bloke. I am sure they are doing a good job however. Sarbear-I was told when the roof is on you must go and pick your tiles. Sounds like you need to go tile shopping. Have fun.I always love that part. Windows are in and fascia and gutter have been delievered. We are organising our Barn shed to be put up after Xmas. DH can't wait. He won't have to drag the rideon around in the ute anymore. I spent yesterday afternoon in tears after recieving our final account, which I need ASAP so we can get payment through to them before they close up for christmas... On our final account appears the following: 13-dec-11 VARIATION- EDGE BEAM ON ROCK- $1979 Now, I am assuming this is the variation they made to the slab when we were pouring, as they hit rock on one side. I remember clearly on the day, me being in a tizz about them making changes, and about the piers, I was having a panic about being over budget, and asking the site supervisor about it when we were counting out the pier holes, and him saying "No, you will come in right on budget- actually might be a smidge under" What freaking part of handing me a $1979 account on our FINAL INVOICE is being right on budget?? There is a credit for the piers- $270 so clearly that is what he was talking about, but today is the FIRST day I have heard ANYTHING about this extra amount. I feel like I'm about to cry again now, I'm so bloody stressed. The tiler turned up on Monday and had a fit as the house inside was a bloody bomb site, and he was ranting to my husband 'Bloody hell. this is the ONLY company who does this BLEEP, and so then he had to spend the first supposed tiling day cleaning. He brought his wife along to help, so he must have known in advance. Apparently they are supposed to be cleaned before the tiler gets there (of course- makes sense!) so now we are a day behind.. apparently carpeters cant come in on Thursday now as the tiler wont be finished, and now they want to do carpet AFTER handover? WTF! so what then? we move in, put all our beds in place so we have somewhere to sleep, and then move it all back out again so they can come in and carpet the house? I'm a nervous wreck at the moment, feel a bit like I'm going to be sick- where do I pull $1979 from at this point?? I mean when YOU change something, BW immediately send a variation. It sounds abit backwards to me. This time of year is stressful enough without having all this cr@p to deal with. Hope you get through this without having a nervous breakdown. I hope we don't get any nasty surprises like that. I'm ringing BW and I'll specifically ask about this edge beam business, as our slab was a nightmare. I havent had much time to go through everyones posts, but everything is going ok at our end, Havent heard from BW since getting the keys, there is still a long list of things that needed to be finished, but nothing has happened. I called and they said they would be out but still havent came out. we have been in for 8 weeks and heard from them once - its nearly time for 12 week maintenance so there is a llooooooooonnnnngggg list of things to be finished and fixed. havent really done anything outside, the inside is just about finished, just need an entry table and mirror for my foyer but im in no rush for that, the one i want is about $800 and want to spend that money on retaining walls etc. we got our new 50in zero turn mower, which has thickened up our grass so much, the property is starting to look like a park. Over xmas we are starting on some garden beds etc. so it will start to look alot more like a park. after being adgisted for 7yrs my horse arrived last week, so its so fantastic to go out my back door and see him. Also last week we picked up our new puppy, this is our 3rd dog, luckily we are on a property, we got another cattle dog and she is just divine, she can be naughty at times but her looks sure do make up for it. Anyhow, i know its been along time since ive be here, and there are some new faces, ill get back over the next few days with replies. xx Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess.
