Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who is building with Beechwood 11825Mar 16, 2016 7:24 am This is nothing new with beechwood and has been highlighted before. The mortar coming out is from to high pressure during cleaning, the cracking of the mortar is usually associated with not enough cement in the mix, and the bricks should have been picked up during the laying and not used. Yes trades are short but over a number of years Beechwood has had the same problems. I have spoken to some who have had the whole house rendered due to the poor brickwork others have had all the brickwork knocked down and relaid. Had the beechwood maintenance brickie out recently and he is loving it, plenty of work for him. Amanda if you do have to get the bricks relaid ask for Terry he does a good job. As per previous warnings issued i reattach some photos. Isn't this forum great for finding people! Haha, such a shame - but I am glad to hear that your issues have been rectified relatively quickly (shame for this rain! Hopefully brick layers will start on your house ASAP). We are meeting with the site supervisor today (hubby can't get away from work so looking like I am going solo - scary!! Lol). Hopefully we can get up to Austral tomorrow morning and make a new selection and get moving quickly. From looking online we're considering Whitsunday Brampton, Bowral Range Murray Grey and Everyday Life Escape... But it's so hard to tell from the pictures online because they're so different in real life. Does anyone have pictures of these bricks? Amanda that is a real dilemma, my fingers are crossed for you that they'll find a solution! It's awful & stressful when you just have no idea what could happen I am sure! Re: Who is building with Beechwood 11828Mar 16, 2016 8:09 am if you call austral they can send you some addresses of houses with those bricks in the area. that's what we did. it's particularly helpful if you can see some bricks from the current batch. There was a house around the corner from us we liked that just had the Brampton laid Re: Who is building with Beechwood 11829Mar 16, 2016 8:10 am Oh fantastic, thank you for that. I will chat to Austral once I meet with the SS this morning and hope for the best! Re: Who is building with Beechwood 11830Mar 16, 2016 8:50 am [quote="braddy_"]Still waiting for first drawn plans... been 5 weeks since paid deposit /quote] Braddy shouldn't be too far off. We paid out deposit 4th dec and got drawings 30th Jan. Remember they were shut for 3 weeks for Christmas means it was about 6 weeks for us too. Just keep doing weekly check ins. I email our sales rep every Thursday to see where things are at. Last Thursday we have moved to the certifier, but are still waiting on developer approval. Hoping all that's sorted by now, especially considering developer approval is supposedly done pretty much as they receive it. On Monday we received an email that the building insurance has been issued. 20/11/15 - Settled land 06/11/15 - Request 1st tender BH 21/04/16 - Colour Selections and Contracts Signed 31/05/16 - Commencement Letter 24/06.16 - Started work onsite - cut and benching begun Re: Who is building with Beechwood 11831Mar 16, 2016 9:05 am We too paid in december. Still nothing. But our land is awaiting registration so we are trying not to hound our rep Re: Who is building with Beechwood 11832Mar 16, 2016 10:12 am What concerns me, is it is eating out of the tender period (which is already almost 2 months in), and the first drawn plans are unlikely to be correct, so that's another 5 odd weeks? :s Re: Who is building with Beechwood 11833Mar 16, 2016 10:34 am braddy my plans were correct first go, but my bank held me up terribly which meant I still had a price increase. Amanda I really feel for you, it must be so stressful seeing your bricks like that I'm grateful you & arms38 have shared pics showing the bricks, this shouldn't have happened at all! really hope they sort it out & you're happy with the end result. Re: Who is building with Beechwood 11834Mar 16, 2016 11:36 am We have also changed to the Whitsunday Brampton - our SS was fantastic, really lovely guy. Waiting for the variation to be sent through and sign off this afternoon so hopefully get some bricks out there straight away! The rep from Austral did say that it would be difficult to get the latte bricks out of our site, but I am sure they will find a way. SS tells me that if we can get the bricks out by the end of this week (which shouldn't be a problem as apparently Brampton is in stock) he has a bricklayer that's happy to start early next week! Apparently the brick layer couldn't even be offered MORE $$ from Austral to lay the latte bricks because of the poor quality. Thank god that's been picked up before they started! Feeling confident about our brick layer, sounds like he takes a fair bit of pride in his work. Re: Who is building with Beechwood 11835Mar 16, 2016 12:09 pm Braddy our 2nd time round didn't take as long. Our actual plans were correct but we changed the piers to the terrezza. Remember 1st time round they have to do all the surveylance etc and drawings to suit the land and cut/fill etc. Gee i hope we don't have to change our bricks. Took us long enough to decide on the ones we chose. 20/11/15 - Settled land 06/11/15 - Request 1st tender BH 21/04/16 - Colour Selections and Contracts Signed 31/05/16 - Commencement Letter 24/06.16 - Started work onsite - cut and benching begun Re: Who is building with Beechwood 11836Mar 16, 2016 3:21 pm I am sure by the time you get around to bricking they will have rectified these errors The guy from Austral definitely wasn't happy about all the issues so I am sure they will make sure it doesn't happen again. Re: Who is building with Beechwood 11837Mar 17, 2016 4:55 am Just wondering if anyone has chosen the facade of "Seville with Morokka" and they are up to that stage where you can share pics. Our painter was there yesterday and hubby and I think they have bagged an area that they shouldn't have. I will send you some pics. Is off our plans that says the brick pier is to bagged which is what we were expecting only, another pic is our actual house and you can see a verticals line in the brickwork (which is meant to be there as its not sealed yet) BUT from the line to the front door I think they are suppose to be kept as bricks and not bagged. The third pic is from BW brochure where it looks like they have the same facade and their wall wasn't painted which makes me think mine was done in error. Hubby seems to think that once it is bagged it's not easy to remove it from the bricks and if it blasted off they can actually damage the bricks??? Anyone have any experience or opinions on this. Am I reading my plan correctly to have expected they should have only bagged the brick PIER? Thank guys . Re: Who is building with Beechwood 11840Mar 17, 2016 5:43 am Untwisted Twist We have the Saville with Moroka, our entry is brick Thanks untwisted.
