And also the basin range you choose. I see basins all the time (work for a distibrutor) and I have seen some really nice above counter, semi-recessed and inset. In that particular basin that you have shown, I prefer either the semi-recessed or inset. Re: Which basin? 5Apr 13, 2010 5:13 pm I love my above counter ones as I don't seem to splash as much water as I did when I had inset ones. Also don't need to bend over as much when I am washing my face. They came standard and I liked the look so they have worked out quite well. Would choose this type in the future if I build again. I had bought a semi-recessed vanity for my previous property but didn't go ahead with the renovation. The reason I had gone with that was that it was a small bathroom and I think they give the impression of there being more space. Re: Which basin? 6Apr 13, 2010 5:37 pm I prefer the above counter. I will be getting round above counter basins with tower taps. Re: Which basin? 7Apr 13, 2010 6:01 pm Above. That's exactly what we're getting in our house (as long as the bank comes to the party ) Re: Which basin? 8Apr 13, 2010 6:55 pm Above. I think they look more modern; but that's just my opinion of course Thankfully that's what my house comes with as standard so it makes the choice easier anyway! I agree with what the other posters say though; the size of your bathroom is also an important factor in deciding which one to use. Re: Which basin? 10Apr 13, 2010 7:11 pm semi-recessed. It still looks modern but you'll not be banging the sides of it with deodorants, handwash etc. But then maybe it's just me. I'm very clumsy Handover February 2011 Happy with our home Re: Which basin? 13Apr 13, 2010 7:47 pm I am not a fan of the 3rd one only because thats all we ever had growing up. I like the second one the best. I also like the first one but maybe in on eof the round ones the sink is quiet chunky. Really they all look good none of them look bad Re: Which basin? 14Apr 13, 2010 9:40 pm We're getting Semi-recessed in this house but only because we HAD to. I prefer the inset ones...just personal preference. The thing you need to remember with semi-recessed is the actual bench width is reduced to fit the basin on so therefore you end up with less bench space, so not always very practical. And inset ones tend to be easier for children to use. Re: Which basin? 16Apr 13, 2010 9:53 pm I'd say the 3rd one. Reason being is because you use the bench and not just the basin. So standing behind the basin and having a narrower bench further away is not practical and having the bench 6 inches below the height of the basin is not practical either. I honestly think these sort of things were designed this way many years ago for very good reasons. These current trends look impressive but once you use them it suddenly occurrs why they were that way to begin with. Just my opinion of course - I just think there are too many things in modern houses that defy logic (there are a few in mine so I'm speaking from experience).
