I have to say that it really is difficult to get out of this building stress. You hate it but it makes you function for so long. When I got the keys I felt deflated. Moving to the new house brought me back to life as we started moving at 5pm on Friday and I insisted we keep going until all necessary stuff is there to sleep in the new house We finished around 2.30 am. On Saturday I just kept walking around and not feeling like it's my house at all. Mind you-that was 2 months ago and we are still getting things finished... NOTHING ELSE... the painter they have is pretty pathetic - she started painting 4 weeks ago and still can't get it right... does anybody believe that she can sand a double door/frame and repaint (front doors) - seal and paint new door at bedroom, re-paint all ceilings, re-paint front render, re-paint alfresco, paint roof exhausts and valleys in one day if she couldn't do it in so many weeks? I'm fuming as I specifically asked the SS at our PCI to tell us in advance if they can't finish the work so we have time to move in with my brother's family - now we are left to the last minute - based on what I saw tonight chances are slim that they will finish the house for Friday 8am inspection and 10am handover... Might have to ring the service manager and ask them to step in to pull all resources to meet deadline as if they don't you will be homeless. Re: Bagheera's new pad - DAH - PCI done :) 1236Feb 23, 2011 10:34 pm As much as there is to do, it sounds like you have no choice but to move in Bags. Most of that stuff could be done while you were there, and even some while you are not. I can understand not wanting to accept the place unfinished though, it really isn't right. Why do you need so much painting done? Is it really that bad? Built with Sw1tch H0mes >Build thread< House status 15/12: Gates and A/C finally installed! I don't mind if they will work on Friday morning but it has to be finished inside - the outside can be finished after we move in... Is it really that bad? The ceilings have been patched and fixed and the finish is very stipply - not smooth, the front render had to be squared around the windows and there are uneven patches on the front portico, front door is not painted right and frame is pretty rough - needs to be sanded back and repainted... one internal door was changed because it was buckled and didn't close properly so it's raw MDF - needs to be primed and painted, touch ups on the gutters, roof exhausts are not painted, alfresco scribe installed today - look awful and uneven - needs to be painted, etc etc .... Did handover happen? Bagheera, I can't believe the amount of stuff left on your list! I was speaking to a guy I went to school with, who is now in management for one of Perths builders (who shall rename absolutely anonymous and unnamed!). I told him of the problems we had, the problem we're still having with the shower, and the fact that the workmanship is soooo poor. He really was very surprised, as he said DAH has such a good reputation within the industry. I'm pretty sure we all chose to build with DAH because we believed they had a good reputation, and are known as one of the better builders in Perth, but seriously all the people on here can't be ****** about what is happening on their sites.. and to think there are hundreds more out there who are not on this website! It has gone way beyond ridiculous They are fully aware of this forum, and I believe are watching it regularly, so someone out there needs to start listening to their clients and take action! We own our own business, and we rely heavily on referrals and repeat clients.. DP is still selling houses for people he sold for/to over 10 years ago. People do not forget good service, but by golly, if it's bad, then word will spread like wildfire to keep clear! Oceanic with Nautilus upgrades. I'm trying not to get upset - we have a big weekend ahead of us and I'm already feeling tired before we even started... have to move everything by Sat 4pm DH took the day off today to start moving my plants and his tools at our relies - can't put anything in our garage as we don't get the door installed until next week... My friends at work keep asking me if I'm excited - to be honest I'm numb... don't know how I feel! Too much stress and very dissapointed that they had two weeks to get the house ready for the handover and they only did 3 days of work. Last week (5 working days) they only sealed my driveway. Just to give you and idea of the standard of work - yesterday they installed the scribe at the Alfresco and one is nicely cut the other one is skinny and missaligned with the other one at the apex. On top of that the skinny one has an added bit -not one piece ... tradie used the compressed board rather than the nice jarrah which was delivered to site...
