Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 11, 2010 9:48 pm Hi, We are considering having tiled skirting in all wet areas and was just after peoples thoughts. We are building with Henley and it does not come standard. Does anyone have any idea what the cost would be? Also, do you feel it's worth the extra cost? I've also found heaps of photos on here of shower niches (I think that's what they're called!) I think they are a great idea and was wondering if there was anyone that had added them to their showers and could give me an idea of cost. Thanks in advance! Re: Tiled skirting to wet areas & shower niche...is it worth 2Apr 11, 2010 9:49 pm I have no idea of the cost, however, I have noticed that builders charge a lot to upgrade tiling features, so make sure it's something that you "have to have" because feature tiling is often personal taste, therefore adds not value to your home on resale. If you love it tho, go for it!!! A thankful person is a happy person. Pics in my thread if you wanna check out both niches & skirting tiles. Cheers Caz Caz & Co ALL MOVED IN!! Now comes all the hard work-decorating.... It doesn't cost any extra. Henley won't do shower niches though. Well, they told us they won't so I will be interested to see how you go Bek I'm back Re: Tiled skirting to wet areas & shower niche...is it worth 6Apr 12, 2010 10:14 pm Skirting Tiles definatly a must in wet areas. The cost if any wouldnt be much. If you dont you may get moisture in the standard skirts and cause swelling and problems down the track if water gets into them. Also not only for practical purposes I think it looks better in wet areas. I rang Henley today as we had decided to go ahead. The tiled skirting was not a problem, though Bek, you were right...they won't do shower niches. So now I'm on the lookout for some kind of shelf that I can use that doesn't require drilling into the tiles and isn't made of plastic! No, I even have sections of narrowness where the tiles won't slide up any further. When I manage some spare time, I might play around with the first DIY part of my… 7 4932 Thank you so much.
