Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 11, 2010 7:34 pm We're building a house in the PD Access range. From the moment we first walked into a PD sales office we were told that any of the houses in the PD Access range were built in 16 weeks. The advertising material stated 20 weeks, so we questioned this, but were assured that 20 weeks was just a precautionary figure to allow for major supply issues or trade strikes etc and that 16 weeks was the standard build time. This statement was repeated by several other PD employees without prompting from us. When we signed the contract we noticed that the days calculated for the build time allowed for 22 weeks so we asked our CSC to clarify. She assured us that in all the time she had been working for PD no house had taken longer than 16 weeks so we signed the contract in good faith. We're building a 21 square house, so it's one of the smaller houses from the Access range, and after speaking to so many people from PD who spoke in terms of a 16 week build time, we decided to believe them and budgeted accordingly. We are about to begin week 13 and our house will definately not be built in 16 weeks. Has anyone else fallen for the 16 week dream? Or were we just foolish to trust the people who work for the company? Re: PD Access - How Long? 2Apr 11, 2010 7:55 pm My contract went to 22.5weeks when I signed the contract but my house was completed in 16.5 weeks 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Some of them, definitely within 16. Re: PD Access - How Long? 5Apr 11, 2010 8:06 pm So 16 weeks is possible. Perhaps our SS isn't on top of his game. He has been telling us for two weeks now that the painters are on site but there certainly isn't any evidence of painting. For reference, this is the Austlii reference.
