As I understand it.. all homes.

Our price is locked in for 120 days after accepting the tender. If council approval takes longer than this, then Clarendon can increase the base cost of the house only, but all variations and site costs stay the same as specified in the tender.

I went to AllCastle last weekend for the shower dimension (see my blog for details), their price increased another $2000!

Only improvement I saw at the display home is, they upgraded the bathroom mirror (from framed to bevelled edge) and shower screen (from framed to semi-frameless)...

You mentioned a free plasma TV in your blog, that's good! How big is it?

Also, have you asked around and see how long it normally takes for your council to approve new dwelling applications?

106cm.. perfect for our bedroom.

I even got them to document the free plasma TV in the tender, to which his response was "You've done this before, haven't you?"

8 weeks, give or take a week.

On the subject of bathrooms, Clarendon actually talked us out of getting frameless showers telling us it would be a lot cheaper to change to these afterwards yourself. I was pleasantly surprised with their honesty.

Yes, Terry was the best presenter I have seen so far. That's why he is the one who survived the Clarendon+Domaine merge, instead of the previous good looking but not quite professional lady in Clarendon.

I don't you what you mean by 'likeness' but I took my photo and made that using Adobe photoshop... being a web designer comes in handy

Ceasarstone kitchen benchtop.
Upgrade from wire shelving to solid shelves.
Extended the 120 days for when the base house price is fixed by another 4 weeks.
Panel lift garage doors.
Couple of other odds and sods here and there. It's a bit of a blur, too much to think about. :shock:

I hate those wire shelves... I have seen a few houses during open house inspection where the outside coating of wire cracked after a few years and the metal inside started rusting. Imagine putting all your cloths on rusted metal...Yak! :evil:

Don't know what's the price differences but I have seen a few builders using it as standard. It might look a bit mordern but it doesn't last long!!

Cookiemonster, we just recently signed our contract with Clarendon and have had our colour selection day and one of things I desperately wanted to change in the house was those wire shelves! Is your upgrade to the solid shelves just in the kitchen or in the wardrobes too? They told me they can't offer anything other than the wire for the wardrobe. I'm thinking we'll just have to get a wardrobe company to fit them all out after handover.

Solid shelves just in the kitchen - sorry, I should have been more specific.

We're having the wardrobes done afterwards ourselves. My wife is fussy about this and wants it just right.

Maxie, which house are your building.. and where abouts are you? We have our contract appointment on the 4th October, so we're very close to you in the building process. It would be great to compare the progress of our builds.

For people doing wardrobes later - are you getting the builder to leave the doors off?

I'm thinking that we will want mirrored sliding doors for our built ins (not the walk in) - and the swinging doors that come standard would just go to waste.

Hi stonecutter,

We spoke with a few guys who do wardrobes, they said it's easier without the door, but it won't add too much hassel if it's too much trouble --- so we decided to leave the door there. One main reason is it matches our bedroom doors. We are concerning of getting it later might cause problem matching the bedroom doors.
