Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 09, 2010 6:00 pm Hello Guys, I am back again , In my standard package from builder Garage height is 25 Course & I am planning to change it to 28 Course. My builder is charging $1850 for this change (And I am OK with that ) but I am not sure how worth this will be. As my front bedroom is 25 Course & I am worried as my front elevation will look bit different (Garage side 28C & Bedroom side 25C) BTW I am building with RedInk Homes in Perth (Custom5000) Waiting for your responses Re: Garage Height 2Apr 09, 2010 7:00 pm I don't think it would look weird (not everyone will raise their bedroom to 31c to meet the garage at 28c). Good luck with your build! Summit/New Gen Homes Slab - 9/4/10 PCI - 13/9/10 Handover - 22/9/10 Re: Garage Height 3Apr 09, 2010 7:59 pm We have our garage 28c and main front bedroom 25c. It's noticeable, but it doesn't look out of place at all... Here's a photo taken from the front. Here's a shot to show the height difference, taken from side/rear of house. http://i925.photobucket.com/albums/ad98/lachjor/March119.jpg Re: Garage Height 4Apr 10, 2010 2:42 am Hey Achjor & Phoenixrain, I really appreciate your prompt response. Its clear now I am going with 28C Garage..huuyyyyeeeee..... Re: Garage Height 5Apr 10, 2010 4:24 pm i agree it doesnt look weird or strange just wondering though, why you would choose to have your garage higher than your house ceilings? is it to house a boat or very tall van or something? i would rather have taller house ceilings personally! Re: Garage Height 6Apr 10, 2010 5:20 pm We don't have a boat or even a large car, but I still think it's something to consider for later down the track. Our neighbour recently was given a new work car, only to get it home and find she can't park it in her garage. Ooops! Re: Garage Height 7Apr 10, 2010 9:43 pm Don't forget to raise the height of the garage door as well. Our neighbour recently was given a new work car, only to get it home and find she can't park it in her garage. Ooops! Wow, it must be a strange car. I drive an oversize 4wd which comes in at just under 2.1m. Should just fit into the standard garage. Some people don't have time to do the job right the first time, but seem to have plenty of time to fix their mistakes. Anybody have any idea what cars CAN'T fit in a 25 course garage door? We are looking around now and don't want to have a empty garage with a car outside!! Larger 4WD with roof racks attached, work tradie vans, larger type family people movers or similar could be an issue. I would seek out specific manufacturing specs on potential cars models you might want to purchase to get the exact dimensions. I ended up getting exact height from my builder - 2229mm I will be taking the tape measure to the car yards!
