It's hard to get businesses to respond nowadays. Brings up to mind my experience with curtain shops...called up 4 curtain shops to measure and quote, only 2 turned up and only 1 finally got back to me with a quote. The other one promised me a quote close of business day, yeah, that was after 2 phone calls but no, that quote never came so in the end I just went with the sole shop that measured and quoted. Re: Quote chk: paving sandstone on concrete base, 69 sq mete 3Apr 09, 2010 10:02 pm I'm not sure about the price... but I wanted to do the same thing and the price you're saying above is putting me off the idea!! Have you considered doing some of it yourself? Ie - get the concrete laid, but do the pavers. Buy the pergola from Stratco, put it up yourself. You'd save 50% easy. Re: Quote chk: paving sandstone on concrete base, 69 sq mete 4Apr 09, 2010 10:35 pm errhhhmmm, I can do the soft-scaping (topsoil, plants, mulch) by myself but the hard-scaping I am like a fish out of water. Prefer to get the professionals to do it, my friend's colleague built a garden platform & decking all by himself, but admitted that was hard work. I would really struggle...maybe never get to complete it Re: Quote chk: paving sandstone on concrete base, 69 sq mete 5Apr 10, 2010 12:40 am Your quote seems a tad expensive - but certainly not overly expensive. You could work out the price fairly simply yourself. Sandstone pavers (depending on the quality) range from aroud $70 to $110 per sqm. Laying a concrete base will prob set you back around $50-$60 per square metre. The laying charge can vary a lot between landscapers. If I were you, I would ask for a specific break down of the costs of each element (pavers, concrete, laying). That way you can get a better idea when comparing quotes etc. Regards, hills_builder Re: Quote chk: paving sandstone on concrete base, 69 sq mete 6Apr 10, 2010 7:39 am Where are you located, rocketleaves? Prices seem to vary a bit depending on which state you're in and whether you're in a capital city or not. I agree that the cost sounds a bit expensive, but not outrageous....
