Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 08, 2010 2:40 pm Hi, We are building a new house and up to choosing our paint colours. We were thinking white for the roof and off white to a light beige for the walls. Now the bits I am unsure about is: Cornices - Do we do them the same colour as the roof or walls? Architraves & Skirtings - We were thinking of doing them white, same as roof and window frames or should we do the same as walls? Doors & Door Frames -Do we do the door frames the same as skirting boards? Do we do the doors the same colour as the door frame or same as the walls? Urggg its all so stressfull Any help and suggestions would be GREAT!!! Pictures would be a huge help also!!! Re: Interior paint colours... Help please!! 2Apr 08, 2010 3:02 pm cornices are usually done in the same colour as the ceiling archs & skirting i would do white, and door & door frames should be the same "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." β Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. The house I'm renting at the moment has white skirtings, door frames, doors, cornices, ceiling... but it also has a different paint colour for almost every single wall lol. We haven't got to the stage yet of picking paint colours for internal walls, but I'd say our cornices will match the ceiling, doors are white, door frames are 'off white' or some other version of white. Skirting would match the door frames. And more than likely the same one colour throughout for all the walls. Re: Interior paint colours... Help please!! 4Apr 08, 2010 4:24 pm We are using Grand Piano 1/2 strength(shade of white) for all the walls the Grand Piano 1/4 strength for the ceiling, cornice, archs, skirtings and doors. I would definately match the ceiling and cornice together and then match the doors, archs and skirts together IMO Re: Interior paint colours... Help please!! 5Apr 08, 2010 4:36 pm We went with all internal woodworks (doors, archs, cornices & skirts) being white to match the roof, and the walls a more biege colour. I am really gald we did - the white woods works help the wall colour pop and act as more of a frame for it, I'm quite please. Help please!! 6Apr 08, 2010 4:44 pm You have different options but here are the common ones - pure white/ceiling white - ceiling and cornices walls - whichever colour you choose skirting, architraves, doors - again pure white or a 1/2 1/4 strength of your wall colour or a completely different colour eg walls 1/4 beige royal and the skirtings etc in 1/2 ceiling, cornices, walls, architraves, skirting and doors all in the same colour - but would have to be fairly light or will feel boxed in You need to get an idea at least of what sort of wall colour you want... Thankyou so much π I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK π 2 7079 I am looking for someone who might have tackled a similar issue as me. I have a few rendered interior walls, the surface condition is hardly flat.
